Calotropis gigantea | A medicinal and poisonous tree
I see Calotropis gigantea plant constantly in our area. It grows abundantly where we live. It is a medicinal plant. It is also highly toxic. Its flowers are very beautiful and it is a medicinal and toxic plant so I took some pictures with my mobile phone. We need to know how beneficial and harmful this plant really is. If we can use plants as medicine then money will be saved and our health will not be harmed like using allopathic medicines.**But beware of the poison of this plant**

Calotropis gigantea plant grows up to 3-4 meters tall. According to some people it grows up to 13 feet tall. But I see them as 3- to 4-feet tall. Never seen longer than this. Although its root is one, it is scattered by many branches. They can be of two types white and red. Calotropis gigantea is classified according to the color of its flowers. But I only see Calotropis gigantea with white flowers. If you tear off the leaves, branches and roots of this plant, a milky substance comes out. Its fruits are green and the seeds may be black.

Its flower powder is used in the treatment of asthma. Dried and powdered flowers are commonly consumed to treat asthma. Its milky substance is applied to the painful area to cure pain. Mustard oil is applied to its leaves and heated and massaged on the stomach to cure stomach ache. Turmeric powder mixed with its white milky pulp is boiled and eaten to cure arthritis. A paste of its bark can be applied to the affected area to prevent skin diseases such as itching and ringworm. A pill is prepared by mixing the flower buds and pepper seeds and salt and is administered to the patient in the treatment of malaria. Apart from this, many other diseases are treated. Always consult an Ayurvedic doctor before taking the treatment mentioned here

You will be surprised to know that all parts of this plant are poisonous. The toxic components of the plant are as follows
* Uscharin,
* calotoxin,
* Calotropin,
* Calactin
* Calotropage.

In rural India, patients are often referred to primary care physicians for treatment of snakebites and envenomations. It has been shown that early care can reduce mortality. The reason for using this plant for snake bites is that snakes cannot tolerate its smell. Hence people believe that it is suitable for treatment and can render snake venom useless. But it is not scientifically proven or researched

You may have seen or heard on the Discovery Channel or the National Geographic Channel that hunters used to poison their arrows with poisonous plants. Do you know what kind of plant poison they actually used? They actually collect venom from plants in the Apocynaceae family. You will be surprised to know that this family includes Calotropis gigantea. The milky sap of this plant was used as arrow poison in Africa.

When these toxins enter the animal body, they block the sodium-potassium pump. The effect of this poison is particularly strong on cardiac tissue. If you drink this poison or inject it into your body, you are sure to die.

The day I took these pictures I had a milky discharge. I was less cautious that day. If this poison somehow got into my eyes then my eyes could have been severely damaged. Luckily I was not harmed by its effects.

If you apply it to the skin, your skin may become red and vesications may occur. If you take it orally, there may be various reactions including burning in the throat and stomach, salivation, stomatitis, vomiting, diarrhea, dilated pupils, tetanic convulsions. And within 6 to 12 hours you can die. Death? yes

It can be used in the treatment of heart diseases. Good results can also be obtained in cancer treatment. A recent study has shown that it works well against cancer. There is definite evidence that it works against cancer. More research should be done to treat more diseases. The way people use this poisonous plant has the potential to harm them greatly. I am of the opinion that people should not even go near this plant. I photographed this plant up close and now I'm scared. Now my job will be to get people to reduce the use of this plant. This is a matter for research doctors. So only if the doctors are able to prepare any medicine from this plant it can be used

### Warning: Do not use this plant as medicine on your own initiative. This may cause damage.
