Grade Point Average (GPA): While studying in preparation for your life-long career, your overall GPA was a measure of how much - or how little - you really loved your chosen field.
(Unless of course you faked your way through your courses, merely to "get a degree"; cheating on exams and assignments is obviously proof that you don't really LOVE what you are learning.)
Comparing GPA with current hiring practice is more of a measure of how much - rather, of how little - ***the world*** actually cares about all your hard work and study at university.
To give you an idea: "Armstrong (2012) claimed that the relationship between grades and job performance is low and becoming lower in recent studies." In other words, getting good grades does not impress anyone who counts.College recruiters probably know this already, but they won't tell you.

After all, the main purpose of going to university is to party, isn't it?! (sarcasm alert!)
