When Sorry Becomes a Script
Nowadays, a new trend is being seen on social media—after doing something bad or shameful, people make a video to apologize online. With a few minutes of video, some emotional facial expressions, and sometimes fake tears—they try to wash away all their sins. As simple as it may seem, it is actually just as complicated. Because the question remains—does this apology come from true remorse, or is it just an act of self-preservation?

Apologizing is certainly a great virtue. But when it becomes a show, the real meaning of forgiveness is lost. Nowadays, many people make these videos to maintain their popularity or just to avoid legal dangers. Many may gain sympathy through these videos and come back to the light, but the real responsibility of their actions remains in question.

Whether a person is truly repentant can be understood by their subsequent actions. Just making a video does not change anything. If you have hurt someone, then apologizing to that person in person is the real behavior. If you harm society, you cannot avoid responsibility by just saying "sorry"—you need to make amends through action.

If the apology video really wants to be important in this era, then we should see some more steps. For example, we need to see how the person changes himself after apologizing, how he makes amends, and whether he promises not to do such a thing in the future and takes practical steps. Awareness is also important from the social side, so that we do not just get carried away by emotions.

We want forgiveness to be a realization from the heart, not a show. And those who make mistakes should really have the opportunity to change, or they can return to the same mistake—under the guise of increasing a view or subscriber.

My point exactly, people often do some things that they know it’s bad and instead of going to apologize to the person they offended they would make an apology videos and then post online knowing that some people would support them despite knowing that they are not sorry for what they did

Your comment really touched my heart. Indeed, many people already know that what they are doing is wrong, but they still do it. And when they are criticized for it, instead of apologizing to the real victim, they try to get absolution by making a video in front of everyone. It is like a strategy to hide their guilt and gain public support. If forgiveness does not come from the heart, then it becomes just an act. So as you said - forgiveness does not mean just making a video, but rather the real responsibility of bowing your head in front of the person who has been harmed and expressing regret. Thank you very much for your opinion.
