What's with that Smile?
![IMG_20210627_200847.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mrnightmare89/EoCbSaovUyWy15Kob84t9z82NxtxMuT8K9mnyK3ta1X2CE9yNrwXJqxbMK5H1kbwJRY.jpg)

In today's world, I have no idea what's with that smile? I can't tell if it's real or not since most people are faking it to have approval from someone. I remember when I encountered a security guard long ago in a certain mall. He said he needed to smile as a courtesy and also to encourage people to shop at the mall. It means to say he's just faking it because he was being told to do so. It's not important if he's happy or not as long as he could show the people that he was happy in that situation.

Actors are no different from what that security guard did. They can cry or smile in front of the screen because that's what they're being told. I wonder if it's easy or not since unlike me, emotions are so hard to fake. Sometimes I lose control because I can't control my emotions. That's why it got me wondering sometimes, no, most of the time when I encountered people I just met. Maybe even on this platform, I'm curious if those people I interacted with showed real feelings. Like smiling or being happy since we don't have a mutual understanding.

It's normal for you to smile when you know someone is bumping on the road. A friend or not, it's not important as long as you show that smile for someone to think you know them. I often do the same because even though it's not obvious I don't want people to think I ignore them. It hurts when you'll be ignored and I felt that years ago. It's right or not, I'm still curious if that's the right thing to do. I mean, to smile is to show only for those who you love to see or to hang out with.

![IMG_20210714_221541.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mrnightmare89/EoCaT29nucTvfDrW87bo1AcTVWz7qc9zwJwuK5EZnoVvzbPgQ6zFWZFyfsniKcHG5sS.jpg)

Of course, being with friends is different because you are aware that you are happy to be with them. There's no denying it, all of us can understand that kind of impression. What I'm wondering is how people can smile in front of someone and suddenly frown at their back? Do we not feel guilt by lying to ourselves, not to others? Also, won't they think they're betraying someone by doing that? What if it happens to them? Are you aware that most people used, "let them taste what they did is the sweet revenge?" Don't they think it might happen to them in the future?

Smiling is precious just for you to know. Don't mind the actors or the professionals when they're at work. They were told to do so because it's part of their job that should be implemented by them. Although, smiling back at a person who just smiled at you is courtesy. You don't need to feel bad because you're showing a smile to someone even though you don't know them. You're doing that as a sign of respect to others and respect to yourself as well. Don't mix the person's emotions with your profession.

What is not right is when you show a smile to certain someone to get their trust and then it was just a lie. You exchange laughter and when you don't see each other you're talking behind their backs. Make sure to show that smile without faking it especially with friends. It's better to show your true emotions, it's easier to understand if you'll show it instead of hiding it from that smile. You just don't hurt others secretly but you're hurting yourself by compressing your true emotions. That's why if you are smiling, of course, you are happy. There's no need for different emotions by showing that sweet smile.

>What I'm wondering is how people can smile in front of someone and suddenly frown at their back?

I also wonder about this. The hypocritical part is talking behind the backs.

I won't say that we shouldn't smile if we look at someone. Some times we are not in a good mood but we need to carry a social smile to maintain our relationship. There is nothing bad about it. The thing that is bad is having an opposite attitude behind the person's back

The real smile is when the smile stays on the face and in the eyes long after the smiling exchange has taken place as the memory lingers on.

The fake smile is the one that drops off within a second of the exchange finishing.

I stand at the door of my work to meet and greet everyone as they walk in- not unlike the security guard and some days it's hard when idiots come through the door and don't do the right thing, but my smile always lingers on my face and in my eyes and that's why my bosses chose me for the job- simply because they see how much I love it.

How much I love interacting with the customers, making them laugh, entertaining them- especially in these hard times when I have to make sure that everyone has checked with the Covid app, make sure that they are wearing face masks (even when they don't want to) and give them a squirt of hand sanitiser- or as I like to offer them a free reward of Chocolate, or icecream or on a weekend, a shot of scotch...I like to make a tough time a little bit easier and lot funnier.

So look for the smile that lights up the eyes and lingers on the face. They are the real smilers. The real people.

You got it right and hey I'm amazed at how you could tell the difference between the real from the fake one. It's really nice to smile at someone because you're like creating a conversation with someone by doing that. Customers love those people who keep on smiling because they'll feel comfortable and don't hesitate to ask for help.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

***I'm amazed at how you could tell the difference between the real from the fake one***

I've been around for a while my friend (almost 50yrs) and have seen literally millions of smiles come and go- some real fast and others real slow...

though what I do see now is that some smiles are not fake, they just hard to make for the person as I can see things going on in their lives through their eyes, so it's not that they give you a fake smile, it's just that they have problems finding the smile for themselves.

It is very nice to read this kind of arituclo, appreciate the smile of others without knowing it is good, because the great part of society we do it because it is courtesy and respect, that speaks a lot of who smiles. But it is not right to smile at him and then behind his back feel anything other than contempt/hate/ or any hurtful emotion or feeling.

Things like this are worth reading about, it's always good to talk about things that can benefit you as a person, as a human in the field of mental and physical health. They say that laughing a lot helps you to have more life (you can look it up on the internet, sorry for being lazy haha).

Thanks for this post, it's nice to read you here. Greetings and blessings :D

Well, you flattered me with your words. It's indeed nice to read articles that will give us ideas of the world or the society we've been in. Although, entertainment these days are important rather than learning.

Thank you, by the way, I appreciate your stay, of course, in my post.lol
