State of Ignorance (Original Poem)

In the privacy of my own home,
I am free.
But I know as soon as I step outside,
Back into the grind with my brothers and sisters,
We are slaves.

Ignorance, a state only we can change,
Is rampant everywhere I look.
Inhuman destruction by the masters
Not chaos, but deliberate degradation of society.

It oozes like a disease from the minds of men and women.
Control, indoctrination, apathy, all written on our hearts because we choose it.

When will we awaken?
When will we say Enough!?
If only we could all go home and feel free.
Maybe then,
We will yearn for freedom everywhere.
