**Hello friends, how are you doing?**

Today I hadn't planned on going out, but my dad called me early to say he wanted to see me and spend some time with me, have a drink, and enjoy some family time. We don't live together, but we see each other quite often at the house where I grew up and which holds so many fond memories for me. Many of my childhood friends, most of them, I would say, have left the country, but there I found some children doing something that I had unfortunately forgotten existed and that I enjoyed so much in my early youth, and that is playing marbles, as we call it in Cuba.

Automatically, watching those kids play made my brain explode with memories of my elementary school years, of that competition to have the most marbles won from my opponent, no matter what it took. Wow, what beautiful memories!

Even throwing a marble has a style, which intimidates the opponent, and the kids know it.

The stage was in front of the house, where they had improvised a small competition area, because if there's one thing this game is, it's very competitive.

I remember that my grandfather used to take me to the store to buy marbles, and they were sold in small bags. Today, that no longer exists, so for these children, marbles are a very precious commodity.

Playing barefoot, with my feet on the ground, getting all my clothes dirty—that's what I really enjoyed, which is why seeing these kids brought back such fond memories.

So I sat back and enjoyed the game and my memories, and took photos. Of course, some adults soon began to arrive who, like me, had their memories stirred and wanted to relive them by taking part in the game.

Hola amigos, ¿cómo les va?

Hoy no tenía planificado salir a la calle, pero mi papá me llamó temprano que quería verme y compartir un rato conmigo, tomar algo y pasar un rato en familia. No vivimos juntos, no obstante nos encontramos con bastante frecuencia en la casa que por muchos años me vio crecer y de la que tengo tan lindos recuerdos. Muchos de mis amigos de infancia, la mayoría, diría yo, se han ido del país, pero allí encontré algunos niños haciendo algo que lamentablemente yo había olvidado que existía y de lo cual disfruté tanto en mis primeros años de juventud, y es jugar canicas o bolas como le decimos en Cuba.


Automáticamente, ver a aquellos chicos jugar hizo que mi cerebro explotara en recuerdos, de mis años de escuela primaria, de esa competencia por tener la mayor cantidad de canicas ganadas a mi adversario hacía cualquiercosa, wow ¡qué lindos recuerdos! 

Hasta para lanzar la canica hay un estilo, eso intimida al oponente y los chicos lo saben.

El escenario estaba al frente de la casa, allí habían hecho de forma improvisada un pequeño terreno para competir, porque si algo tiene este juego es que es muy competitivo. 

Yo recuerdo que para comprar las canicas mi abuelo me llevaba a la tienda y allí las vendían en unas pequeñas bolsas. Hoy eso no existe, por lo que para estos niños este es un bien muy preciado.

El jugar descalzo, con los pies sobre la tierra, ensuciar toda la ropa, eso sí que lo disfrutaba, por eso me trajo tan buenos recuerdos ver a estos chicos.

Y entonces me senté a la distancia para disfrutar del juego y de mis memorias, y hacer fotos, por supuesto enseguida comenzaron a llegar algunos adultos que como yo, se vieron removidos sus recuerdos y quisieron revivirlos tomando accion en el juego.

Ya para el final se habia creado algo tan sano y educativo, compartir con los chicos y su familia de un juego tan ancestral, alejarse por un momento de las pantallas de los teléfonos, de la tecnología y preatarle atención a esos juegos tradicionales, de verdad que fue una mañana de las mas especiales que he pasado en mucho tiempo. Ojalá y no dejemos morir estos juegos, ojalá que no mueran nuestros recuerdos.

Genial post mi amigo, acá en Perú las llamamos igual canicas o bolitas, me hace recordar mucho mi infancia ahora es difícil ver niños jugando de  esa manera, ese legado se va perdiendo y siendo remplazado por computadoras o celulares,  gracias por regresarme al pasado con tus  fotografías .

Igual aquí sucede lo mismo, esos juegos tradicionales han sido poco a poco reemplazados por las nuevas tecnologías  y es una pena porque uno lo pasaba tan bien, eran esos tiempos de niño especiales!!!

Hermosas fotos. En mi país Venezuela específicamente en la isla de Margarita le decimos pichas. Mientras que en la capital le decimos metras y forma parte de los juegos típicos junto al trompo y la perinola.

Cuando era niña, ese juego era muy común en mi escuela. Hoy en día es muy raro ver a los niños disfrutando de esta actividad. Recuerdo que la bola que más deseaban tener los chicos era la negra, tenía un nombre peculiar, pero ya no lo recuerdo. Excelentes fotografías @muhammadhalim. Saludos y lindo día ☺️
