Sandalye, dinlenmek, sohbet etmek yada oturmak amaçlı kullanılan dört yada üç bacaklı eşyadır.

Sandalye, ağaçtan, demirden, plastikten ve bunlar gibi bir insan ağırlığını taşıyabilecek malzemedendir. Malzemesi uzun yıllar dayanacak şekilde tasarlanmaktadır. Ağaç şeklinde yapılanlar daha revaçtadır her zaman... bunun nedeni ise sağlam ve güvenilir olmasıdır. Ağaçtan üretildiklerinde ise cilalanıp sonrasında boyanır ki sağlam olsun. Belki bir kaç nesil veya daha uzun yıllar dayanabilen sandalyeler vardır. Evladiyelik tabirine en uygun eşyalardan sayılır.

Oturma yeri mümkün olduğunca rahat olması için üretilir. Kumaşın altına singer ve bunun gibi rahat olması açısından yumuşak malzeme konularak kullanan kişinin rahatı amaçlanmaktadır. Üçgen, yuvarlak ve kare biçimde olan oturma yeri, sandalyenin alıcısına çabuk ulaşması için en dikkat edilen bölümüdür. Bunun için farklı tasarımlar yapılmaktadır.

Televizyon karşında, düğünde oturmak için farklı şekillerde üretilmektedir. Özellikle televizyon karşısı için üretilenler rahatlık açısından oldukça rağbet görmektedir. Sallanabilir olması rahatlık duygusunu en güzel ortaya çıkaran özellikte olmasıdır.

Bazen ağaçtan yapılan sandalyaler, müzelik ve antika değerine ulaşmaktadır. Nedeni ise geçmişte yapılan sağlam ve ağaç yapımı olanlar yıllar geçmesine rağmen eskimemesi ve temiz kullanmanın verdiği etki ile sonraki yıllara rahatlıkla ulaşabilmesidir.<hr/><center>
