Steemit, a blockchain-based social media platform targeted in cyber attacks sees malicious hackers hacking into user accounts and their balances. Since then, the recovery process has created accounts that were compromised with balances over $ 100 USD, recovered and returned to affected users.

Blockchain-supported Steemit sees about 250 user accounts infiltrated with $ 85,000 in Steem dollars and Steem cryptocurrency tokens, stolen, in cyber attacks yesterday.

The latest update from Steemit CEO Ned Scott revealed that Steemit's team has managed to secure a compromised account containing a balance of over $ 100 USD. These accounts have also been returned to their rightful owners, Scott revealed.

He also revealed that the platform will start allowing all accounts safely to reset their passwords, within the next two days.

The chief executive also has the optional security advice for all Steemit users after hacking incidents. He has stated:

For all Steemit users: if you have not already done so, reset your account password. We ask this to ensure that everyone's account is secure. Remember that each account has 3 keys: Owner Key, Active Key, and Posting Key.

We recommend following the best security practices by choosing unique passwords for each of these keys.

Furthermore, he asserts that all Steem or Steem Dollars stolen as a result of hacking, worth approximately $ 85,000, will also be fully restored by the platform to affected users.
