Our community holds an Old-Timers get-together every year. We used to be the young ones that went to it, but now we are the old ones. To go to it your family had to have been here for over a hundred years.

My grandparents moved to Florida in the late 1890s, they came from Georgia by ox and wagon with 2 children. My Dad was born here.

Just about all the people that go to it are not only old-timers but they are fishermen. Back in our day, the one in the above photo was one of the youngest fishermen. He was famous for running out of gas in the ocean and river but mostly the ocean. My husband got to where he would carry an extra 5 gallons of gas on our boat just for JR. *He understood quite well* how much fuel he needed to fish but he still ran out. He always had a dog with him, it was not a *little dog*, it was a black Lab that loved the water. The kid next to him is now the youngest fisherman, he was helping to get things *ready* for the fish fry.

  This is Bob, he is great at telling stories about other fishermen in a way that will have you *clickety clack* clickety clacking with laughter. He was telling about a few days ago JR woke him from a deep sleep, saying he was in the ocean and out of fuel. His wife said she would go with him, JR is her brother. They got out in the ocean and his wife started getting seasick, he was going to take her back to the inlet and let her wait on the dock. He called JR to find out where he was at and told JR to turn his stern light on,  Bob saw the light and told his wife that JR was not far from them so she said to keep going. As it turned out JR had a powerful spotlight and that is what he turned on, he was miles from where Bob thought he was. JR had been running back to the inlet when he ran out of gas, he had a net onboard and you are not allowed to stop in State waters with a net, this is why JR had his lights turned off. This was just a few days ago, nothing has changed in all of these years.

The guy in the yellow shirt is Billy nothing comes out of his mouth that is not funny. There was an old fisherman who had moved here from up north, he did not need to fish for a living but did it for something to do. He was in Wal-Mart one day and I guess you can say he *struck left handed*. He filled a mailbox full of fishing supplies and super-glued the door shut. The cashier shook it and knew there was something in it. He was arrested.

One day we were trolling in the ocean and there was a lot of seaweed that kept getting on our lines, Billy came over the radio, we all had CBs on our boats, and said "hey Don, you got any of those weedless hooks that you stole from Wal Mart?" Even though no one said anything, you knew that the entire fleet was laughing.

The bandage on Billy's leg is from Vibrio vulnificus, most people call it the flesh-eating bacteria it will make you *turn your head*, it is not something that you want to look at. He said that he had a little cut on his leg and did not think about it when he was in the water trying to get things prepared for the hurricane. When he got out he did not think to pour bleach over his cut. Now he will be lucky if he does not lose his leg.
