<p>That thermostat keeping your home nice and cozy warm – <em>feedback loop</em>.</p>
<p><em>A temperature sensor sends an output. The output signals a heater to turn on and raises the temperature. The rise in temperature is received by the sensor as input, thus completing the loop.</em></p>
<h3>Feedback loops are everywhere.</h3>

<p>Anyway I digress. The purpose of this post is not to provide you with a detailed explanation of feedback loops. After all a quick Google search would do much better than I ever could.</p>
<p>Instead, I just wanted to share what I consider to be one of the most fun and enjoyable feedback loops out there. <em><strong>A camera shooting a video of its own screen.</strong></em></p>
<p>If you haven’t tried this before give it a shot. You will be surprised how long you can spend twisting and turning the camera trying to come up with new and unexpected feedback patterns.</p>
<p>In the video below I simply used Airplay to mirror an iPad and then faced it toward the television. It starts a little slow, but if you make it to minute one I really hit my sweet spot. Those with a little imagination will see <em>a crab, a lotus flower, a heart, and a burning flame</em>.<br />
