Does the Dining table become like this if Climate change continues?

Due to the effects of climate change, the distant future table might be similar but nothing like it at same time.

By 2050 the population of the world is expected to reach 10 billion people. And in just over 30 years there may be insufficient food to fill the stomachs of people all over the world. A scientist who is driven by a sense of crisis is looking for dramatic choices such as edible insects and artificial meat, large fish farms, but it seems that eating rice may not be eaten like usual, How many people do you imagine?

Allie Wist, an associate art director of Saveur Magazine in the U.S. gourmet magazine, announced a photo series " Flooded " that collaborates with photographers and food stylists and draws a distinctive dining table in the sea level rise period. This work taken up by NPR depicts the severe future of food that the food system forced to adapt to the change of the earth will strike us.

Mrs. Wist said "Climate change is an abstract phenomenon for many people and does not actually relate to daily life. I think food is one of the most intimate substances we encounter. Food gives strong emotions and relationships that people do not hold against abstract scientific concepts."

Props styling: Rebecca Bartoshesky - Art direction: Allie Wist

Mrs. Wist studied studying mountain papers and developed recipes and ingredients with food stylist CC Buckley assuming New York and New England areas flooded with sea level rise. "The work was interesting ... Hey, how can I use this oil? How about the future? How about I can not use butter?" Mr. Wist recalls the process of production.

Mr. Buckley and Mrs. Wist thought that culture does not change much what it eats, rather it is going to save extreme food. What we present there is a coastal world that has to cope with its worst effects by accepting the fact that human beings have caused climate change by themselves. In order to cope with adverse effects such as sea level rise, ocean warming, and acidification, deoxygenation etc., you will have to adopt huge storage technology.

In other words, the material is local agricultural products, without red meat, desserts made with agar (gelatin based on algae), many aquatic cultures, shellfish which play an important role infiltration of marine water, canning and canning Conversion of preserved edible crops is required.

Props styling: Rebecca Bartoshesky Art direction: Allie Wist

"We looked at food preservation laws of many cultures, like the way to preserve egg yolk found in Asian culture," Buckley says. In the work, lighting is placed on the food arranged and it represents the flooded environment.

Mrs. Wist hoped that this project would be an attractive table, despite being dis tropical. Certainly, the food looks beautiful. She says "I thought it was my job to present what we should do and how to adapt".

There are many other projects, and Mrs. Wist wants to imagine a dining table that describes the future of drought. Other than sea level rise, for example, scientists speculate that human activities further drying the western part of the United States .

Props styling: Rebecca Bartoshesky - Art direction: Allie Wist

If you are looking for actual dishes to eat dish top dishes, there are chefs who reflect the influence of human activity in the dish. Michelin star chef Alexandre Couillon offers dishes inspired by pollution caused by pollution caused by heavy oil spilled by oil tanker ERIKA on the coast of France at his restaurant La Marine. There is only one oyster in the middle of a large white plate, plenty of squid ink on top of it. Here is a picture of actual dish.

Mrs. Wist and Mr. Buckley hope that through the work, people think of climate change as much as possible in their lives and think about how foods are closely tied to the Earth.

Think about what you are eating, not just looking at but just closely related to the environment.

The team tried the food of the work but I heard that it is not going to offer it. I'd like to try and experience environmental issues more effectively by actually experiencing distinctive diet.

Those are some good points. Food security is a huge issue on so many levels. Thanks for sharing it.
