These are things that we see in the Museum these days but seeing them as a living library is a different experience all together. During the weekend we were in the Mountains, this is the common place that we visit very often Jebel Akhdar, but every time we come here we explore something new. There are many small villages up on this mountain and Pomegranate farms are in abundance in this place. 

This time we visited the old village called Bait Echaraf. Over here there was an old house Alsharaf which was kept open for tourist to visit. They have made this place a tourist attraction with a very nominal fee. Most of the places in Oman are free to visit for everyone, there are very few places which have fees and those are always very nominal, so that's one good thing to promote tourism.

This old house looks down to the village farms and gives a good peak of older lifestyles and how families lived in the ancient times. These olden houses in the caves and mountains were built with a reason in those days, probably they wanted to be safe from animals and also from the rough weather conditions. Looking at them one only understands how tough life would have been in those times, but yet people were happy and satisfied.

And we reach to the house, the ceiling is very low, so you need to be careful with your head

The first room was the place where they made Rose water and other products. Right now it's only for show purpose, but it exhibits the traditional methods of making Rose Water and scents

This is the storage area after making the product. This is what I assumed. Language is a challenge here, because people overlooking this place are locals and they do not speak English so conversing with them or checking anything with them is a challenge.

These stoves, I remember. When I was a kid I remember seeing at my aunt's place. It would operate on Kerosene.

The rooms had ceiling of wooden logs and they were very low, so I had to be careful all the time with my head.

After we finished watching the house, we were invited to the roof top where they served the Omani traditional coffee, which is called as Kahwa.

That was a wonderful exploration of this small house and quite a few things to learn about the ancient days traditions.
