I have been having a lot of fun putting more attention towards Liketu lately. Part of the fun of sharing photographs with the Hive community comes from my ability to relax a bit and just write some thoughts with relation to the photographs, not being all too serious in creating something in length, but focusing on a little more personality and short-form content. Speaking of which: I'm realising I have many rolls of 35mm film I should get developed soon. I miss posting the more serious photographs alongside the regular ones in the day.

I realised these photographs I didn't share last year over summer, but I did write a little briefly about an event that unfolded that day: I fell in the river with my cheap, not-waterproof phone. I was in a Kayak that seemed to have slightly off balance, making each stroke push it too much to one side; I was cautious but not cautious enough. I fell to the side with my phone in my pocket. Fortunately my at the time new DJI Mini 2 drone was in another person's Kayak and protected.  Somehow my phone survived, and came out with a full recovery after a day or two of just letting it dry out. No damage whatsoever! The third image in particular is the last image I took moments before falling in, so have fun imagining that scenario.

This location is in the East of England, where old canalboat routes still exist, though I don't think they are used anymore. As part of culture and history they remain, particularly through the gates which can be found. You see this is the first image. Over that summer it was beautiful, very warm, the fields green and the sun beaming down heat, but life still very much flourishing under it. Part of me likes the idea of owning a boat -- or canalboat -- one day and just casually sailing around the many possible locations. To own a small boat sounds like some true freedom, and an incredibly relaxing experience. I recall times of my youth in which I went on trips and stayed on boats, and how it was an experience I really enjoyed. Though as I got older the time around them decreased more and more.

I still Kayak every summer, however. That is something I greatly enjoy doing. Though I wouldn't say I do it often. The last two summers I did it have ended up with two negative events: a car crash after, and another time almost losing my phone due to capsizing. Perhaps some River God has cursed me?
