Pegado al portón de la escuela, vi cómo los padres de cada niño venía a buscarlo, lo tomaba de la mano y se iban hablando de las cosas que habían hecho ese día. Yo pegué mi rostro a las rejas oxidadas y ahí, viendo a los niños marcharse, me dieron ganas de llorar: tuve mucho miedo de quedarme solo. # <center>=<0>=</center> Lo supe por la vieja Cleta que se lo dijo a Venancio: "Lo mataron por equivocación. Buscaban a otra persona igual que él, con su mismo nombre". Lo mataron por un callejón cuando él iba a buscarme al colegio, dijeron. Cuando mi mamá supo, salió corriendo como loca, pero ya mi padre había muerto, también dijeron. # <center>=<0>=</center> A mí no me fueron a buscar aquel día. Se hicieron las 5, las 6. La maestra y el vigilante me veían, con pena. Yo no entendía por qué se habían olvidado de mí, por qué papá tardaba en llegar. Mi maestra me preguntó: "¿Tú sabes dónde vives?", y yo comencé a llorar de nuevo porque no sabía. Después la maestra buscó entre sus cosas y encontró un número de teléfono y llamó. Entonces la maestra y el vigilante me llevaron a casa. # <center>=<0>=</center> Desde ese día, tengo pesadillas. En esas pesadillas, yo me quedo solo. Ni mi papá ni mi mamá están conmigo. Yo veo a otros niños caminar al lado de sus padres, tomados de la mano, pero nadie llega por mí, nadie está conmigo.
