<div class="text-justify">La pareja de recién casados llegó a aquel pueblo buscando una chica para que trabajara en la casa: hiciera comida, planchara, limpiara e hiciera otras cosas. Dolores que había terminado el liceo y que tenía 18 años, aceptó la oferta de trabajo y se fue con la joven pareja a la ciudad con la esperanza no solo de ganar dinero sino también de conocer otro mundo.

Desde el primer momento, la joven pareja intentó que Dolores se sintiera en casa, por ello no la trataban como una criada sino como una hermana. Era así que Dolores veía la televisión, iba al cine con el jardinero y leía en sus ratos libres. Uno de los libros que más la apasionó y por el cual creó una fascinación extraña fue por The Handmaid's Tale de Margaret Atwood que leá y releía cada vez que podía.

Por eso, cuando salió embarazada del jardinero de la casa, Jhonneiker y este no quiso asumir la paternidad, Dolores comenzó a desvariar asumiendo que vivía en carne propia los acontecimientos que había leído en el libro. Tanto así que cuando la pareja de recién casados despidió al Jhonneiker, Dolores acusó a la joven pareja de querer quedarse con su bebé y haberla inducido a quedar embarazada.

Como pudo, Dolores salió de aquella casa y regresó a su pueblo: sin dinero, embarazada y sin empleo. Cuando los pueblerinos le preguntaban por qué había regresado, Dolores comenzaba a decir que había vivido aquella historia escrita por Margaret Atwood. La gente, ingenua y sin saber que Dolores desvariaba, se persignaba ante aquellas barbaridades relatadas:
_Hasta el nombre me cambiaron. Me llamaban Offred y el lugar donde estaba se llamaba Gilead -decía Dolores convencida de lo que decía mientras arrullaba a su niña con cantos espirituales.</div>

Dolores, who had finished high school and was 18 years old, accepted the job offer and went with the young couple to the city hoping not only to earn money but also to get to know another world.

From the first moment, the young couple tried to make Dolores feel at home, so they did not treat her as a maid but as a sister. So Dolores watched television, went to the movies with the gardener and read in her spare time. One of the books she was most passionate about and for which she created a strange fascination was The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, which she read and reread whenever she could.

So when she became pregnant by the gardener of the house, Jhonneiker and he did not want to assume paternity, Dolores began to rave assuming that she was living in the flesh the events she had read in the book. So much so that when the newlywed couple fired Jhonneiker, Dolores accused the young couple of wanting to keep her baby and having induced her to become pregnant.

As best she could, Dolores left that house and returned to her village: penniless, pregnant and unemployed. When the villagers asked her why she had returned, Dolores began to say that she had lived that story written by Margaret Atwood. The people, naive and unaware that Dolores was raving, would bow down before the barbarities she told:
_They even changed my name. They called me Offred and the place where I was was called Gilead," Dolores said, convinced of what she was saying while she lulled her baby girl with spiritual songs.</div>
