Querida Francina, 

Llevo algunos días pensando en escribirte esta carta. Como sé que odias hacer cosas por compromiso, te alerto que no necesito recibir de ti una respuesta (escrita). Solo me apetece charlar, contarte un poco de mis días y comentarte algo de lo que te escucho decir cuando hablamos íntimamente. 

Somos amigas desde hace ya bastante tiempo y reconozco algunas cualidades tuyas que te han llevado a experimentar no pocos fracasos.  Eres fiel, soñadora e incluso puedes llegar a pedir más cariño de lo que eres capaz de dar y sí, ciertamente tu nombre te queda justo a la medida. Te lo digo porque a menudo, ves a personas por ahí que no… que no les queda bien su nombre. A ti sí. 

He olvidado comer algunas veces en estos días. Me concentro tanto en lo de escribir que pierdo la noción del tiempo. Son demasiadas cuartillas las que me pide mi Editorial. Fíjate que quería empezar a ir al gimnasio a inscribirme en el CrossFit esta semana y terminé postergándolo. ¡No puedo ejercitarme de esa manera si no me alimento bien! No, no te preocupes que no me siento enferma, al contrario, cada día tengo más energía y trato de canalizarla de alguna forma. 

En realidad creo que estoy hablando demasiado de mí y lo que quiero es comentarte acerca de ese muchacho que -dices- te envía mensajes cifrados. Ya… ya sé que no son propiamente así, que sabes que esas técnicas se usan desde tiempos casi inmemoriales… pero, Francina, ¿no podría existir la posibilidad de que te estés inventando toda la historia? 

Recuerda que es un chat, Dios mío, ni siquiera interactúas ahí. Solo lees lo que hablan los otros y son demasiadas personas las involucradas en ese espacio como para que él, de tanto en tanto, escriba algo que reconoces como un mensaje escrito únicamente para que tú lo veas. Francina, él no te conoce. Ni tú a él.

La semana pasada me contaste que te dijo cosas usando stickers muy coloridos, que expresaban diversos estados de ánimo. Mira, amiga, sabes que me preocupo por ti y creo que deberías apartarte un poco de las redes sociales. Con tanto trabajo que tengo estos días… pero ya sé que mi prioridad eres tú. Deberíamos pasar más tiempo juntas y así tratamos de solucionar estos problemitas que nos aquejan. 

Mira, hacemos algo… ¿qué te parece si iniciamos un maratón culinario y aprovechamos para cocinar frijoles, garbanzos, pescado asado (sé que te encantan las cosas del mar)? Algo con camarones y langostas… 

¡Espaguetis! ¿tienes todavía la lata de atún que guardabas para hacerlos con piña? Pues vayamos a comprar las piñas y salimos un poco las dos para que la brisa de la imaginación nos ayude a encontrar todas las respuestas. Fíjate que me encanta la idea porque paro un poco de escribir esos libracos para la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas, y tú de paso, dejas reposar un poco el chat. 

Quizás hasta podamos ir las dos a lo del CrossFit.

We have been friends for quite some time now and I recognize some of your qualities that have led you to experience more than a few failures.  You are faithful, and dreamy and can even ask for more affection than you can give and yes, your name certainly fits you just right. I tell you this because often, you see people out there who don't... who don't fit their name. You do. 

I've forgotten to eat a few times these days. I concentrate so much on writing that I lose track of time. It's too many pages that my Editorial is asking me to write. Notice that I wanted to start going to the gym to sign up for CrossFit this week and ended up procrastinating. I can't work out that way if I don't eat right! No, don't worry I don't feel sick, on the contrary, every day I have more energy and I'm trying to channel it somehow. 

Actually, I think I am talking too much about myself and what I want to tell you is about that boy who -you say- sends you encrypted messages. I know... I know they are not really like that, you know that these techniques have been used since time immemorial... but, Francina, couldn't it be possible that you are making up the whole story? 

Remember it's a chat room, my God, you don't even interact there. You just read what the others are talking about and there are too many people involved in that space for him, from time to time, to write something that you recognize as a message written solely for you to see. Francina, he doesn't know you. Nor do you know him.

Last week you told me that he had told you things using very colourful stickers, expressing different moods. Look, my friend, you know I care about you and I think you should stay away from social networks for a while. With so much work I have these days... but I know my priority is you. We should spend more time together and that way we can try to solve these little problems we have. 

Look, let's do something... what do you say we start a cooking marathon and take the opportunity to cook beans, chickpeas, and grilled fish (I know you love seafood)? Something with shrimp and lobster? 

Spaghetti! Do you still have the can of tuna you were saving to make them with pineapple? I love the idea because I can stop writing those little books for the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and you, by the way, let the chat rest for a while.
