I don't know who these people are. 

I am reminded of another individual in the Linux community who basically used his millions to buy a distribution, told everyone that it belonged to the community, who naively believed it while getting an unprecedented following, development work, contributions and a whole host of other benefits basically for free (As in money) and yet he controlled everything from the direction, look-n-feel and core implementations until finally, one day, he slagged off the very community that built up his product and sloped off to concentrate on the business world while declaring through clenched teeth "I haven't forgotten the community"

What a lot of people failed to realise then and in all honesty failed to realise with St++m is it was and is 'Their Train Set' so they can do with it as they wish but people get it into their heads that they own it when a community forms. Now for some of us that were there when it happened what I will say is, and putting aside for the minute the thievery which came after the acquisition I might add, the main reason Hive was created was because the developers and most of the Witnesses did not want Justin Sun to have control so it really was an argument of who owned it, the community? Or the Dude that held the money? It was only when everyone started leaving the sinking ship that all the criminality started.

What I still say is. There were lots of problems on Steemit before Justin came along and a lot of those individuals behind the problems simply made the jump to Hive. Ultimately, IMO it was about control. Whether on not Ned said folks could have a portion od Steem tokens is irrelevant in my book. #TrainSets

I think Ned just didn't know where to take steem/it next and did the best thing in his interests, we must also remember without him, there would be no steem or HIVE. Justin was just being Justin and to tell the truth, no one really knows what he had planned for steemit and that was the scary part. All in all I think things turned out great. The community got closer, many doubled their tokens, HIVE is a powerful force and many are earning HIVE, Steem and Blurt for one piece of content 😂

They both sowed seeds of division and dissent in my opinion.

So i have no idea who Ned is but I read up on Justin Sun. But at this point all of it led to where we're at now so it might be time to just let go of the past and make the best of the current situation. Whatever that may be is for each of us to decide for ourselves right?

hi nathan, i was not part of steem, i directly joined hive. One of the lucky ones i guess.
But, from what i have heard for various people, what they did not was not right.

Justin Sun united us. As far Ned is concerned I do not feel betrayed by him. I feel incompetence ,greed and ignorance on part of community.

I think Ned and Justin are business guys who care about money more than people. I saw Ned at St++mfest a couple of times and it seemed he just wanted to talk to the big guys and not us small-fry. Justin inspired the community to create Hive and it is thanks to him that I am almost an orca as I got have both tokens. He seems to do a good job of persuading people his projects are good, but he showed with St++m that he is ruthless. I see there is currently a legal fight going on over the theft of tokens from some people.

I think this is such a complicated subject. On top of that, I probably don't know all the facts. 

My basic take on this is Ned had every right to sell Steemit. He got his price and he wanted to walk away. I don't really see anything wrong with that. I think there may have been some ethical issues or a lack of communication on his part about the ninja mine and how it was supposed to be used. That was a controversial issue from day 1 though and a reason a lot of people didn't like the project in the early days. The question I have is did Justin understand all this when he purchased the company. 

Justin bought a company and maybe he didn't understand what he was getting into . Regardless, he definitely split the community. I think he could of handled the entire takeover much better than he did. Again, I don't know all the details, but he really tried to takeover control with the STEEM that wasn't supposed to be used in the way he intended. Thus his actions caused all the problems that lead to the drama, split, and what I knew would end up being an inevitable hard fork. 

Anyway, that's my take on it. Frankly, I think HIVE is way better than Steemit ever was. We have a rocking community now, all kinds of development, and plenty of dApps. I'm more bullish on HIVE than I ever was with STEEM! 

I agree with you. I think he escaped from individualistic thinking. But our power is collective and we demonstrate daily that our strength continues to evolve.
