## The question is this... #### Should the onus for rewarding posts be placed firmly on the shoulders of the communities under which the post is created? Why should a general reward pool be meted out by people based on the size of their personal stake? #### The reason I query the system of reward is that I feel too much reliance is being placed on certain individuals and curation groups by the tribes and communities. There are tools and systems in place for communities to develop their own system of reward. An example would be by tokenisation.@neoxiancity is a community of dedicated individuals who support each other and generally produce great content. They have tokenised their community and reward each other with their @neoxag token. Excellent. Its a micro-community under the HIve blockchain umbrella. There are many such groups and all are successful and have loyal followers. Think @leo, @ocdb, @gems @stemsocial .....there are many. There are other ways to reward too, such as @tipu, where people use their own funds to reward other users. There is the excellent @engage token bot, @beertokens, again, many ways to reward an individual creator both within the confines of a community and across the wider chain without the need to also reward with Hive. ### But to reward in this way brings up a number of issues. #### Firstly, Why would anyone hold stake? ##### >Buying Hive is an investment How many times do we hear that? But an investment in what? in who? If we used Hive to fund developers and marketing, imagine the potential! I have no idea how much our hard world devs actually make here, or even whether it's a full-time job for them but if we want top-class DApps, we need to pay top-class money. Let's dump the amateur hour and go all-in on quality. We already have the proposal system in place, let's give it some real funding. If teams want to develop here, let's finance them and this is where the investment lies. Using a traditional company analogy, we buy shares. Company does well, the share price (in our case Hive) goes up, we may also earn a dividend. Investment is a winner. Invest in a professional marketing outfit. A massive increase in user base and along with that a massive increase in demand for Hive, the price goes up. Another winner! #### And all the while, you're still creating the content and earning from the community reward mechanisms! #### The elephant in the room would be curation rewards but it needn't be. I see curation rewards as being nothing more than a 'reward' for holding staked Hive but with everyone's Hive being invested in projects, that reward becomes unnecessary. #### But wait! You will still be earning curation rewards from the tribes. I'd suggest not at the same levels but again, for thoughtful comment and engagement, Tips and tokens can be sent. #### #### What we are doing here is moving reward away from being the blockchain's responsibility to the individual's and community's responsibility and so freeing up a reward pool full of Hive for some proper development and marketing. #### @leofinance have proved already that this model works. That communities don't need to be tied to Hive aprons strings to succeed and flourish. The @leo community counts in Leo tokens, it is almost as if Hive doesn't exist which is how it ought to be. The blockchain should be invisible to its users, nothing more than a base on which to run fun stuff! #### ### People have 'invested' in Hive from $7 USD down to 0.12c and they are getting practically nothing in return, only a hope in hell that one day, Hive will 'moon' again. I don't think it will... ## ... so isn't it time we tried another way? #### #### P.S. 4 week Powerdown!!!!!

Interesting points. leofinance is a spectacular example for sure. one of the things I've noticed about hive is that a lot of those same steemians with high stakes seem to be milking the rewards pool on hive as well. But nobody talks about it. Puts a lot of sell pressure on this token. Posted Using [LeoFinance Beta](https://leofinance.io/@cflclosers/re-nathen007-2aqcer)

I personally think an additional benefit of this model would be an end to milking as there would be no reward pool to milk! All the staked Hive would only be good for investment and again, if anyone on the individual communities is milking using the specific community's token or reward system, it would be then up to that specific community to sort it out, in the case of @leo, there is a massive and active community to do that. It again DECENTRALISES the HIVE Blockchain further....The more I think about this, the more I think ditching a central reward pool is the only way to go!! Also, thanks for actually taking the time to read and comment. I really appreciate that :-)
