Al pasar el tiempo mercenarios de la Banda de Hierro logran conseguir el escondite de WenWu y matan a su esposa. Al no poder renunciar a su vida criminal, entrena a su hijo mayor en el arte del asesinato, razón por la que este huye de casa a los 14 años.
En la película Wenwu, (el verdadero Mandarín) es el padre de Shang-Chi, ha permitido orientar la historia desde una perspectiva de familia disfuncional, que otorga una profundidad a todos los personajes protagonistas relacionados con ella. Tony Leung (Wenwu) ofrece una visión muy interesante del villano con muchos matices, un villano que no puede dejar el pasado atrás y está obsesionado por revivir a su esposa, siendo engañado por voces para desatar el caos y liberar a bestias que podrían causar la destrucción de la humanidad.

No parece una película de Marvel, es una historia de orígenes con asombrosas coreografías y peleas muy bien filmadas con escenas de acción inverosímiles. Es divertida, bien escrita, bien actuada y bien dirigida, con toques de humor. Hace recordar a las de mitología china y a las de acción de ese país. Con toques de: Tigre y Dragón, las peleas de Bruce Lee y las películas desenfrenadas de Jackie Chan.

Shang-Chi (Simón Liu) muestra una filosofía pacifista evitando por todos los medios la venganza de su padre. Su nombre proviene de dos palabras: shang (crecimiento, avance) y chi (espíritu).
El actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) interpretó una parodia del mandarín en Iron Man 3, por ello es secuestrado de la cárcel y llevado ante WenWu, de allí surge su simpática aparición en esta película.

Shang-Chi , Xialing, Kathy , Trevor Slattery y una criatura mística escapan de la fortaleza de Wenwu para alertar a la población de Ta-Lo acerca de los planes de conquista de WenWu quien ya sabe cómo llegar a esta ciudad mística .
Aparece también una adaptación de Razor Fist, (un conocido malvado en los comics de Marvel), como un miembro de la organización de los Diez Anillos que en vez de extremidades tiene una espada en su mano derecha. Es el encargado de quitar sus colgantes a Shang-Chi y a Xialing (la hermana de Shang Chi menospreciada por su padre) los cuales tienen el poder ayudar a Wenwu a descubrir cómo encontrar y entrar a la ciudad de Ta-Lo.
Los espíritus malignos son liberados por engaño por Wenwu y la organización de los Diez Anillos, se unen a los aldeanos de Ta- Lo para enfrentarse a las criaturas.

Hay apariciones especiales del Maestro de las Artes Místicas Wong, (compañero del Dr.Stranger), Bruce Banner, y la Capitana Marvel y de la estrella asiática Michelle Yeoh.
La película con un presupuesto de 150.000.000 millones de dólares, ha recaudado hasta la fecha 430.462.129 millones de dólares. Fue dirigida por el japonés-estadounidense Destin Daniel Cretton y guionizada por él mismo y David Callaham. Actualmente, se encuentra en cartelera cinematográfica y también puede verse en streaming en Disney +.
Aparte del legado familiar, toca temas como el empoderamiento femenino a través Xu Xialing (Meng'er Zhang) la hermana de Shang Chi, y Kathy (compañera de trabajo y amiga del personaje protagonista) interpretada por la actriz Awkwafina un personajes que actúa como alivio cómico pero que en el momento climático de la película toma mucha importancia.
Película entretenida y altamente recomendable.

It doesn't feel like a Marvel movie, it's an origins story with amazing choreography and beautifully shot fights with implausible action scenes. It's fun, well written, well acted and well directed, with touches of humor. It brings to mind Chinese mythology and Chinese action films. With touches of: Tiger and Dragon, Bruce Lee's fights and Jackie Chan's unbridled films.

Shang-Chi (Simon Liu) displays a pacifist philosophy avoiding by all means the revenge of his father. His name comes from two words: shang (growth, advancement) and chi (spirit).
Actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) played a parody of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3, so he is kidnapped from prison and brought before WenWu, hence his sympathetic appearance in this film.

An adaptation of Razor Fist, (a known bad guy in Marvel comics), also appears as a member of the Ten Rings organization who instead of limbs has a sword in his right hand. He is in charge of taking their pendants from Shang-Chi and Xialing (Shang Chi's sister scorned by their father) who have the power to help Wenwu figure out how to find and enter the city of Ta-Lo.
The evil spirits are released by trickery by Wenwu and the Ten Rings organization, they join the villagers of Ta- Lo to confront the creatures.

Apart from the family legacy, it touches on themes such as female empowerment through Xu Xialing (Meng'er Zhang) Shang Chi's sister, and Kathy (co-worker and friend of the main character) played by actress Awkwafina a character who acts as comic relief but in the climatic moment of the film takes a lot of importance.
Entertaining and highly recommended film.
