Why I hate The Truth

<p>I realised something about myself recently:</p>
<p><code><strong>I hate the truth.</strong></code></p>
<p>What I mean by that, every time somebody claims to know the truth, or even worse tries to teach me of it, I immediately go on guard, and feel a sense of irritation.</p>
<p>Online, it gets even worse, and article that claims to tell you The Truth about X (vaccines/ufos/government/horses...) 95% of the time turns out to be vapid nonsense at &nbsp;best, offensive and idiotic conspiracy theory at worst.</p>
<p>And that is a truth<code> (not the truth, just a truth)</code></p>

There is truth behind the veil. Both deliberate disinformation campaigns and deluded nutbags put out all kinds of nonsense, but that does not diminish the factual truth that is out there. Logic is a very useful tool to help you identify nonsense, lies tend to be presented using logical fallacies, like for example, the non-null hypothesis - you can't prove it's not true, there is no case that shows it can be disproven, so it cannot be true.
