#### Almost every one of us has once had a choice - to do or not - to work that we do not like. But what if it pays well? And what if there is no other? Is it possible to fall in love with a job that doesn't go to heart?

The realization that the work you are doing is unpleasant does not always come immediately. For example, you enjoyed the job at first, but now you have done it for so many years that you no longer want to continue. It may happen that interests simply change over time. It is even more common that you have chosen studies in a field, but when they are completed, it is revealed that you are not interested in this field at all, but the job has been accepted because it was simply offered. Is it possible to work a job that you don't like?

This is an issue that has always been important and whose relevance is not diminishing. We can, of course, work formally in a job that we don't really like, but there is always the question of how quality our lives and well-being will be.

##### What really motivates us?

Can this well-being be ensured not by a very pleasant job, but by a large enough number in the salary account? It is clear that the level of income must be commensurate with our needs - it must at least meet our basic needs. Namely, we have been able to work for some time because of a high salary, but what allows us to work qualitatively, productively, and feel alive is something completely different. It turns out that we are mainly motivated by three things - the meaning of the work to be done, mastery, and autonomy.

> ***The meaning of the work to be done.*** - Can we work if we feel we are doing something pointless but we are being paid for it? In the short term - yes, but sooner or later it will cause frustration and a lot of stress because you will have to force yourself to do what you don't like on a regular basis. In the long run can cause professional burnout, various neuroses, depression, as well as physical health problems.

> ***Mastery.*** - Of course, we all like to experience the feeling that we succeed. It is often this feeling that brings the greatest joy and motivation to work to achieve even more. But mastery can be developed by constantly accepting new challenges, learning something new. The feeling of mastery is given by consciousness - yesterday I could do this, but today I can do something a little more and better, I can also do something else. On the other hand, if you do the same thing all the time, a person becomes like a robot that automatically performs normal actions.

> ***Autonomy.*** - It turns out that in order to thrive in all one hundred percent of your work, it is important for the employee to feel autonomy - complete trust in what he does and how he does it. It is important that employees are not constantly checked and controlled: when did you come, when did you leave, how long did you have lunch, or did you not take care of private things for a while during work. The employee is very tired and depressed if there is no trust in the cooperation process and feelings - I am trusted, I am a permanent, reliable employee, for whom the common goal is as important as for the employer.

##### Don't like but no other job…

In fact, there is often talk of dreamwork, of the opportunity to work with passion, such a judgment of a prosperous society. It's easy to talk if you don't have a big problem finding a new job. Those whose work is a matter of subsistence, of existence, they think and hope to be able to do their dream job one day but are silent about it, for fear of losing what they have now. You have to work because you just have to earn money to pay for an apartment and buy food. For example in Latvia in the countryside job opportunities are much lower than in the big city.

##### What to do if you do not like it, difficult to work with your boss?

In eighty percent of cases, people do not leave the workplace or work, but from a particular boss. It is usually not possible to change the boss, and if you still do not want to change jobs, there are two options left. The first is to work with yourself and try to understand what emotional reactions the boss or his actions cause in you. The second is to try to talk to your boss and say what you really don't like, maybe it's possible to change something. However, experience shows that people are more likely to withstand the stress of a relationship with their boss and still leave work.

Sometimes it is enough for an employee to go to some job interviews and understand that he is not such a bad employee. His self-esteem grows and he becomes confident enough to work with his current boss.

Thanks for reading and I hope you found something interesting.
