Imagine a cryptocurrency that could make any currency deflationary. The Fed is devaluing the U.S. currency by making more of it all the time, the only way to reverse that trend is to destroy dollars faster than they can print them.
Introducing PODcoin. POD stands for Proof of Destruction. PODcoins are created as U.S. Paper money is destroyed. A video documenting the serial number and the destruction of that bill is sent out to the network for confirmation. Once a set number of confirmation are received by the network a PODcoin is issued and stored on a blockchain.
People converting dollars to PODcoin would confirm the destruction of a set number of other people converting fiat currency into PODcoin as part of the process, or they could pay a percentage to get it done by users offering that service.
The cool thing about this currency is it would be pegged to the dollar. It would provide a convenient on ramp to other cryptocurrencies. It's own value would rise with the deflation of the U.S. Currency.
Other currency could be included by merely by adjusting for value in USD.
I cannot do it, and I'm just fantasizing. I'm definitely NOT encouraging anyone to do anything illegal.
@larkenrose once asked, What power would the Fed have if tomorrow nobody would use their money?
It sure would be fun to find out. Something like PODcoin could make it a reality. It's fun to imagine anyway.
