So, Trump sued Paramount, the parent company that umbrellas The Late Show With Stephen Colbert claiming that they edited their "60 Minutes" interview with Kamala Harris in an inappropriate way to give her undue advantage and stuff like that.
It was a trashy case that was 99% certain to not yield any result in court for Trump because of course it was supposed to be a 60 Minutes interview and they had to edit it to fit into that time frame. Undue advantage was going to be the hardest thing to prove.
But Paramount simply took Trump to the corner and settled for $16million and other concessions. And one of the concessions was cancelling Colbert's show. Paramount did this because they needed the government's approval for their merger with Skydance and Trump was delaying the approval, he was not going to give that approval just like that.
_Bear in mind, though, that Trump's approval is not supposed to depend on whether he likes you or not, it's supposed to be done by the book, but if course nobody hates doing stuff by the book more than Trump. Self-interest is always first and foremost with him._
Trump and Paramount never came out to say that the $16m and cancelation was all in a bid to get Trump's approval. They only agreed to paying the $16m. They didn't even mention cancellation at all, but as soon as the deal was made it was announced that Paramount was cancelling the Colbert's show for financial reasons and there's no way you'll expect anybody with a worthwhile IQ to believe that.
These are the easiest dots to connect in the history of connection of dots 🤣🤣.
Colbert is the biggest critic of Trump, and Trump has complained about him a number of times. It's no surprise Trump would want him gone as part of any deal he makes with Paramount especially given how desperate Paramount was.
Colbert's show has been too successful for the financial reasons excuse. Very laughable attempt.
# Moving Forward
• **Colbert does too Much and is Too Biased:** I'm not a Trump fan, but I'm a fan of the truth. And the truth is Colbert goes too far and is too clear biased. Other late night show hosts like Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, are all Trump's critics, but Stewart for example manages to balance these things some times.
He makes mean jokes about the Democrats too, and usually takes a more objective stance. But Colbert never even tries to. He hardly ever says even the least unfavorable things about the Democrats, he always goes hard on Trump and Republicans and hardly tries to be objective.
That's quite bad.
Because when you don't sound objective your criticisms of a person start to sound less like worthy opinions and more like witch-hunts. And even your supporters start to feel some sort of shame (if and only if they're reasonable fellows, though).
• **Colbert Can't be Cancelled:** The show is too successful to be cancelled, maybe the current network would not host it anymore, but that would just mean it would go elsewhere. Some other network or it could just stand on its own. There's no way such a successful popular show would go off completely just like that.
But anything can happen, though.
I only see Colbert going on to do it elsewhere or in another form.
