<div class=text-justify>Given the new home the family and I moved into this year, we had been looking forward to this year's Black Friday to shop for some needed items. However, it turned out to be very different from the years past that I could recall of lines and making quick decisions on what to grab and buy. While it was a better experience for us consumers, I think it was a black eye for the retailers.<p>
I had thought that things would be slow as it seemed like Black Friday sales started well before the Holiday week had arrived. I received countless emails on sales which seemed to be quite attractive. However, I held off to wait for the actual week and the Holidays coincided with some time off to actually go and do some shopping and research for deals. As the day approach, I was surprised to see little movement on additional discounts and as we visited our most interested deals on the Wednesday before, we found huge amounts of inventory ready at great prices.
As the family looked at each other on a great deal for a well needed television, we decided to actually make the purchase two days early after learning that prices will not go down and that we could even return for a price match if found somewhere better within the following days! That made the decision easy given the comfort of no lines and a variety of delivery options so we went for it. It was crazy that it had been over 7 years since my last television purchase so I was amazed at the quality of the new acquisition.
With our main purchase behind us, we still got out early for Black Friday to see what else we could find. We found empty parking lots and plenty of inventory to once again look through. It seems that not even the retailers expected the slow day as some had security available to manage traffic and lines when there were none at all. Also, everything we went looking for, we found without any issues which calls the whole supply chain concern into question. I think this spells trouble for the economy considering that 70% of it is from consumers!</div>
