Being broke is a very serious issue in the lives of almost everyone. I read somewhere that life is like a book, different chapters carry different stories, sometimes sadness, sometimes happiness, sometimes pain, etc. Such is life. Sometimes things will move on so smoothly, while sometimes, things will just stagnate. However life is, one must not give up. Being broke is a situation in which one is financially incapable of undertaking some financial responsibilities. I have been broke several times and I know what it means to be without money.  Even as I am making this post, I am literally broke. Many things contribute to my brokenness. 

**Factors responsible for my brokenness**

One of such is forex trading. I realised that the greater part of my income goes into forex trading. Forex trading is energy-sapping, emotionally draining, as well as financially hazardous. It can turn a rich person into a poor person if care is not taken. Most times it is advisable for one to risk a certain amount of money he can afford to lose. 

Another factor that contributes to my brokenness is inflation. Although this is a national crisis. I spend more money buying a few things because of the increasing prices of goods and services. Before now, a certain amount of money could afford some items that could be used by a household, but today, the same amount cannot cater to an individual. I spend a huge amount of money on food, and this is the greatest aspect of life that I spend money on. Without buying food for the family, I do not think that I can be broke.

Another is the level of my income, a simple economic principle states that, when expenditure exceeds income, such an amount will amount to a deficit. I have come to realise that my level of income cannot cater to my expenditure, no matter how I try to cut down on expenses. From the work I do and other earnings from online platforms, I know they’re not enough, so in this case, there is a need to increase my capacity. My earnings need to be increased, while trying as much as possible to reduce my expenses to the barest minimum.

**My Brokeness Indicators**
I know that broke when I cannot afford a basic thing like food. This is the height of my brokenness. Other things can be taken care of. Most time, when I have food, I have peace of mind. This is not about me, per se, but with the people I am living with. Left for me alone, I can survive even if I do not have food in the house. Other things like shelter, entertainment, and clothing are all secondary. Since I am an indoor person, other things are not just necessary for me, those things can be taken care of from time to time. In essence, when I have food, I am not broke.
