La luna es mi menstruación. 

En algún momento del 2015, quién sabe por qué, o cómo, leí acerca de la siembra de la luna. 

Usaba toallas sanitarias en ese entonces, y uso toallas sanitarias actualmente. Las dejé remojando en agua durante el transcurso de mi menstruación. Al finalizar, esa agua la regué a mis plantas. Las tenía en mi ventana en Puerto la Cruz. Aún es mi ventana favorita. Tenía una espinaca enredadera y un pino limón con hongos.

The moon is my menstruation.

Sometime in 2015, who knows why, or how, I read about giving our period blood back to Mother Earth.

I used pads back then, and I use pads today. I left them soaking in water during my menstruation. After that, I watered that water on my plants. I had them in my window in Puerto la Cruz. It is still my favorite window view. I had a spinach vine and a tiny dying lemon pine.

Le dije que era sagrada, adorada y limpia. Y que yo lo era también. 

Y así ese simple ritual se volvió, tal vez, el más sagrado para mí. 

Cuando quedé embarazada, en septiembre del 2018, ella se fue. Lógicamente. Pero aún meses después de dar a luz, ella no volvió. Y así pasó un año, y dos y, finalmente, tres.

Yo la extrañé tanto. 

Meditaba e iba a mi lugar especial, allí donde estaba, y está, mi árbol del útero. Pero sus flores blancas nunca se tornaron rojas. Yo le rezaba y le preguntaba cuándo volvería. 

El posparto fue muy extraño para mí. Y apenas siento que acabé con él hace dos meses. Sayri ya tiene dos años y medio. 

Así que aferrarme a mi luna se volvió para mí una necesidad. Como si fuese la única forma de volver a ser yo. O, por lo menos, la yo antes del embarazo, antes de la locura hormonal. 

Era a mi yo anterior a quien extrañaba. 
Y a mi yo actual de quien quería huir.

<div class="text-justify"><div class = pull-right>I can't say that I felt strange doing all that. It was the opposite. I only said out loud something I had read online with the phone in my hand.

I told her she was sacred, adored, and clean. And that I was too.

And so that simple ritual became, perhaps, the most sacred one to me.

When I got pregnant, in September 2018, she left. Logically. But even months after giving birth, she did not return. And so a year passed, and two, and finally three.

I missed her so much.

I meditated and went to my special place, where it was, and still is my womb tree. But the white flowers never turned red. I prayed to her and asked her when she would return.

Postpartum was very odd for me. And I just feel like I finally ended that phase of my life two months ago. Sayri is now two and a half years old.

So holding onto my moon became a necessity for me. Like it's the only possible way for me to *be* me again. Or, at least, me before the pregnancy, before that hormonal madness.

It was my former self that I was missing.
And my current self from whom I wanted to run away.

<em>Fue hace 6 meses, en mayo del 2021, que ella volvió</em>. Llevaba recién un mes haciendo ejercicio con una amiga. En ese momento, se me hizo lógico que volviera con con el ejercicio ya que es él otra forma de liberación.

Sin embargo, viendo hacía atrás realmente, pienso que lo que más pudo haber influido fue estar sola con otra mujer cuando mis últimos tres años habían transcurrido, casi exclusivamente, entre Sayri y Rafael, su papá. 

A lo largo de la vida, he subestimado mucho lo poderoso que es simplemente recargarse de energía femenina con ayuda de otras mujeres.

Hace poco, leyendo Mujeres que corren con los lobos, de Clarissa Pinkola Estés, descubrí a esta diosa griega, Baubo. Ella no tiene rostro. Sus ojos son sus pezones y su boca su vagina. Abierta. Es ella la diosa que sana todo con la risa que emana de lo más profundo de nuestro vientre. Esa risa que solo se da entre mujeres, sin compañía masculina. 

Dice así: 
>(...) Cuando se ríe la mujer respira libremente y, al hacerlo, es posible que empiece a experimentar unas sensaciones no autorizadas. ¿Y qué clase de sensaciones son ésas? Pues bien, en realidad, no son sensaciones sino un alivio y un remedio para las sensaciones, un alivio y un remedio que a menudo dan lugar a la liberación de lágrimas reprimidas y a la recuperación de recuerdos olvidados o a la rotura de las cadenas de la personalidad sensual. <div class="text-justify"><div class = pull-right>It was 6 months ago, in May 2021, that she returned. I had been exercising with a friend for a month. At that moment, it made sense to me that she would return with the exercise since that is another form of liberation.

However, looking back really, I think that what could have influenced the returning the most was being alone with another woman since my last three years had passed, almost exclusively, between Sayri and Rafael, his father.

Throughout my life, I have greatly underestimated how powerful it is to simply recharge with feminine energy... with females, of course.

Recently, reading Women Who Run with the Wolves, by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, I discovered this Greek goddess: Baubo. She has no face. Her eyes are her nipples and her mouth is her vagina. Wide-open. She is the goddess who heals everything with the laughter that emanates from the depths of our womb. That laugh that only occurs between women, without male company.

It goes like this: 
>(...) When she laughs, a woman breathes freely and, in doing so, she may begin to experience unauthorized sensations. And what kind of sensations are those? Well, in reality, they are not sensations but a relief and a remedy for sensations, a relief and a remedy that often result in the release of repressed tears and the recovery of forgotten memories or the breaking of the chains of the sensual personality. (...) The mischief and humor of obscene goddesses can cause a vital form of medicine to spread throughout the body's neurological and endocrine systems.

Mucho ha pasado desde el 2015 cuando sembré mi luna por primera vez. Y quiero compartir con ustedes cómo es mi ritual de siembra menstrual hoy.

Como les dije, sigo usando toallas sanitarias. De las comerciales — aunque sí me gustaría, eventualmente, probar las de tela. 

Las toallas las remojo en agua y luego las exprimo; desechando las toallas y quedándome con el agua roja.

A lot has happened since 2015 when I first gave my blood back to Mother Earth. And I want to share with you what my ritual is like today.

<br>

Like I told you, I still use pads. The commercial ones - although I would like, eventually, to try the fabric ones.

The pads are soaked in water and then squeezed out; discarding the pads and keeping the red water.

I do two plantings.
The first, at the end of the first day of menstruation. For whatever reason, I feel like the first day is the most powerful.

I welcome her and thank her for cleansing my body. I invite her to feel comfortable, I tell her that I love her and, specifically, I tell her if there is something I want her to allow me to deepen. 

They say that the cycle of women is divided into 4 phases.

The first is just when menstruation ends; the Maiden phase. We feel full of life. It is the spark and strength of the beginnings.

Then ovulation; the phase of the Mother that represents our most nurturing character.

Then, after ovulation and before menstruation, the phase of the Sorceress. It is when we begin to withdraw from the world and when Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) usually occurs.

And, finally, menstruation. The phase of The Witch. The shaman woman who moves perfectly between the two worlds - that of the living and the dead, the lightness and the darkness, comes back with her messages and visions. It is the moment in which the woman becomes the mistress of the depths of her story.

At the end of my moon, which usually takes between 3 and 4 days, I do the second and last planting.

I sit down with her to talk about the experience, about what has been internalized. I thank her again, and I plant an intention for this new cycle. It can be a project or the study of some quality of mine that I want to explore. Or a prayer to elevate.

This is not part of the planting anymore, but I usually end up with vaginal vaporization. The herbs should be soft and warm. Or at least that's how my vagina likes them.

Mixtures of roses, marigold, cinnamon, and rosemary are my favorites.

La primera, al finalizar el primer día de la menstruación. Por alguna razón, siento que es la más poderosa. 

Le doy la bienvenida y le agradezco por venir a limpiarme, la invito a sentirse cómoda, le digo que la amo y, específicamente, le cuento si hay algo en lo que quiero que me permita profundizar.

Dicen que el ciclo de la mujer se divide en 4 fases. 

El primero es justo cuando se acaba la menstruacion; la fase de la Doncella. Nos sentimos llenos de vida. Es la chispa y fuerza de los comienzos  

Luego, la ovulación; la fase de la Madre que representa nuestro carácter más nutritivo.

Después, al pasar la ovulación y antes de la menstruación, la fase de la Hechicera. Es cuando empezamos a retirarnos del mundo y cuando suele ocurrir el Síndrome Premenstrual (SPM).

Y, finalmente, la menstruación. La fase de La Bruja. La chamana que se mueve perfectamente entre los dos mundos —el de los vivos y los muertos, la luz y la oscuridad, la vigilia y el sueño, trayendo consigo mensajes y visiones. Es el momento en el que la mujer va como dueña y señora de sus profundidades. 

Al finalizar mi luna, que suele tardar entre 3 y 4 días, hago la segunda y última siembra. 

Me siento con ella a conversar lo vivido, el viaje y lo internalizado. Le agradezco, nuevamente, y siembro una intención para este nuevo ciclo. Puede ser un proyecto, o el estudio de alguna cualidad mía que quiera explorar. O un rezo a elevar. 

Ya esto no es parte de la siembra, pero suelo terminar con una vaporización vaginal. Las hierbas deben ser suaves y calientes. O, al menos, así le gustan a mi vagina.

Desde que empecé a sembrar la luna, muchas cosas han nacido, madurado y muerto dentro de mí. 

Casi inmediatamente al comenzar, conocí los temazcales, medicina de vapor del Camino Rojo que representa el renacimiento en el útero de la madre. 

También comencé a adentrarme dentro de las violaciones de mi linaje femenino. Yo nunca he sufrido una violación, sin embargo, constantemente me encontraba petrificada de miedo y lidiaba con ataques de ansiedad. Estuve dos meses sin salir de casa por temor incluso. Durante ese proceso, veía a las mujeres de mi clan ser golpeadas y abusadas. Las vi aguantar con sonrisas y palabras de amor por instinto de supervivencia y también experimenté la culpa y la suciedad de aquellas que sintieron sentir placer durante el acto. 

También, desde que comencé a sembrar la luna, nació en mí el instinto por ser madre. El cual, años después, se volvió realidad. 

Si lo hacen, si siembran su lunita, escuchen. Solo escuchen.

A la luna le temo como a nadie. Maestra fuerte, cruda y oscura. Maestra de las tinieblas.

Since I began to plant my blood, many things have been born, matured, and perished within me.

<br>

Almost immediately at the beginning, I got to know the Temazcal, the sweatlodge medicine of the Red Road that represents a rebirth in the mother's womb.

I also began to delve into the sexual assault of my female lineage. I have never been raped, yet I was constantly petrified with fear and dealing with anxiety attacks. I did not leave home for two months out of fear. During that process, I saw the women of my clan being beaten and abused. I saw them resist with smiles and words of love for survival instinct and I also experienced the guilt and dirtiness of those who felt pleasure during the act.

Also, since I began to plant my menstrual blood, the instinct to be a mother was born in me. Which, years later, became a reality.

If you do, if you plant your blood, listen to her. Just listen.

I fear the moon like nobody else. Strong, raw, and dark teacher. 
Mistress of darkness.
