# Still Cross Posting? Part of me wants to get to rep 70 on Steem, seeing as I am at 69.95 and that's just haunting me so the race is on to get there before powerdown completes. However, I'm also interested in seeing where the interaction and activity is because I want to share my music with as many folks as possible and there's no point in continually posting to a ghost town! # Proof of Interaction (PoINT?) ☝️ Since the Hive Hard Fork happened on 20th March 2020, I've been getting data to compare the two sites and get a better idea where to focus efforts. With sharing music on Web 2.0 sites like Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, Spotify, YouTube etc. you can already see I'm being spread pretty thin... and that's without factoring in studio time!

# Hive vs Steem Anyway... let's have a look at Hive vs Steem as that's probably what we're most interested in here. When I posted a [table](https://images.hive.blog/0x0/https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nickyhavey/NMFOt24h-image.png) on 17th April, the post payouts were pretty similar between Hive and Steem but only 2 comments on Steem (one of them was my own!) compared to 71 on Hive. Snapshot from today is thus:

The post payouts have literally doubled which is really humbling (thanks everyone who's supported me here) and just look at the number of comments...**165 Comments On Hive vs 16 On Steem**! That's over 10x more comments for this little guy - which is pretty staggering! Thanks to you legends for engaging with the music posts, I'm really grateful and is kinda obvious where the people are! So how does this compare with the "Web 2.0" sites?

# Hive vs "Web 2.0" I'm more active on Twitter compared to FB due to interacting with most of the [Electronic Music Alliance](https://twitter.com/1EMAlliance) community there. Obviously, I'm not getting any post/tweet rewards on either sites but I definitely get more interaction on Twitter vs FB. I also get tagged in a LOT of things but the reason I mostly left FB was because the interaction was REALLY bad for artist pages! ### Final Straw A couple of years ago, I spent money advertising my FB page to grow it and it has over 12,000 "followers" on there... but because of FB's algorithms limiting who sees your posts and it not really feeling like a place to support long form content (as far as I could tell - post a picture of a bottle of wine and get those likes baby!), I thought, sod that. Money grabbers! I dare say FB created a load of fake accounts to make it *feel* like these page adverts were working so I'd cough up more cash to keep them running. Also, FB were, and are, definitely NOT showing my posts to anywhere close to the 12k followers as it tells me my reach is usually no more than 50-100... then they ask for money to "boost" my post to show it to my followers... Bye bye!
https://media.giphy.com/media/1xucXbDnMIYkU/giphy.gif
### New Home in Web 3.0 So I joined Hive (Steem at the time) and never looked back. That experience on FB did change my approach though and made me consider why I do what I do and how I do it. In the end, I decided to go back to the roots of having fun with just making music and getting lost in my little production world and shared them with a community willing to get involved and I have got to know a LOT of cool people - that's you guys and girls by the way!

And there you have it, **Proof of Interaction**, which is here on Hive! What about you? How does Hive compare to the various other platforms/social networks for you? Why did you join Hive? Let me know in the comments and let's have a chinwag over some digital beer! Cheers 🍻 Nicky

You can get more data on your posts with peakd or steempeaks tools section they have a page cure tool! I kinda miss that about steem having a page view tool! I’ve been saying this for a long time now that rewards shouldn’t be the be all and end all it’s just a way to distribute the token If we had a view counter and time on post and % read of post then we can see who actually makes good content and what people like so you can create more of the same Rewards are artificial and arbitrary and mostly done though autovotes! I don’t care if people want to milk rewards but they focus on rewards means a lot of rubbish posts get more screen time! Finally I’d also like to see I a steev feed integrated into peakd for example so you have your chronological feed and a algorithmic feed of suggestions and you can choose to view either As for social I’ve got 40k followers on Facebook doesn’t help me for shit lol

Ah really? I didn't know that about peakd or Steempeak! Might be good to have a look at the stats in more detail. I kinda just go by comments as a marker if something worked well and see if I can do something like that - I kinda have no idea otherwise! Yea definitely agree with the rewards bit - I was going to add a section in about the rewards not being the be all and end all and if you do that approach, you'll be in no man's land pretty quick! I'd say the rewards are just one facet of it all. Learning skills like blogging, networking, dipping your feet in to crypto, travel, music, Excel... you name it - these are cool things that real people are contributing and shouldn't be overshadowed by that little figure in the bottom right of each post! I think all those cool things you mentioned are coming but it's going to take time, at least we're here now and building things up, ready to encourage the next wave of new users! Haha, 40k followers, you probably have your posts shown to about 150 people then! Farcebook!

Lol like any of these networks it becomes a pay to play arena, pretty sure this place will go the same way eventually, it just means token holders get rewarded instead of just one company

I'm new to hive, but my experience with steemit over the last two years was great! I met so many inspiring people from all around the world. On Facebook you definitely need to invest money if you want to be seen as artist. That's their business model...

Hey @patschwork, welcome to Hive in this case! I think we're all new though as it's still only 1.5 months old but yeah, for me Steemit was a very very slow start! It took me 6 months to get any real traction after the first week but stuck with it and managed to join the travel community which changed everything! Like you say, many talented people around here and I think, brave souls venturing in to this new web 3.0 world! For sure, the business model is very different on FB. Paying to get people to click through to a site, download something free for email addresses and then pitch your music etc etc... wasn't for me in the end. I think that being on Hive is definitely more my style! But I'm also terrible at marketing so that could also be a factor haha
