El día de hoy decidí compartirles la preparación del almuerzo que hice para mí, algo bastante oriental y criollo.

***"Arroz, pescado frito y ensalada"***

**Estos fueron los ingredientes que utilicé para cocinar:**
- 2 tazas de arroz
- 6 sardinas frescas
- 1 remolacha
- 1 zanahoria
- 1 cebolla
- 1 pimentón
- 1 papa
- 50 gr de repollo
- Aceite vegetal
- Sal

Today I decided to share with you the preparation of the lunch I made for myself, something quite oriental and creole.

Como el día de hoy me quedé solo en la casa, decidí preparar el almuerzo para que mi familia encontrara algo delicioso que degustar al llegar de sus trabajos.

Así que empecé por el arroz, lavándolo muy bien, luego le agregué 4 tazas de agua, un poco de pimentón y cebolla picada, un chorrito de aceite y sal al gusto.

Esto lo hice con la intención de que el arroz quedara con un sabor diferente y suelto, que no quedara pegostoso. Entonces, el truco está en agregar un chorrito pequeño de aceite mientras se cocina.

Por otro lado, mientras el arroz se cocinaba, piqué el repollo en pequeños trozos, y coloqué en una olla a sancochar los vegetales, como la papa, la remolacha y la zanahoria.

Since I was alone in the house today, I decided to prepare lunch so that my family would find something delicious to enjoy when they came home from work.

So I started with the rice, washing it very well, then I added 4 cups of water, some paprika and chopped onion, a dash of oil and salt to taste.

I did this with the intention that the rice would have a different and loose flavor, that it would not be sticky. So, the trick is to add a small splash of oil while cooking.

Después que los vegetales se sancocharon, los dejé reposar un rato, y les quité la cascara para así, empezar a armar la ensalada, picando todo en cuadritos, agregué sal al gusto y aceite vegetal, un chorrito también.

Finalmente, lo más tedioso es el pescado fresco, y más aún las sardinas por la cantidad de escamas que tienen. Pero un truco facil es, sumergirlos en una ollita o bol con agua y descamarlos, luego de quitarle sus tripitas y la cabeza, se les echa sal por todas partes, se secan con un paño limpio de cocina y se fríen en aceite caliente hasta que estén crujientes y la carne esté blanquita sin sangre. Opcionalmente, pueden agregarle salsa de ajo para darle más sabor.

After the vegetables were parboiled, I let them rest for a while, and removed the skins to start assembling the salad, chopping everything into squares, adding salt to taste and vegetable oil, a little bit too.

Finally, the most tedious thing is the fresh fish, and even more so the sardines because of the amount of scales they have. But an easy trick is to submerge them in a small pot or bowl with water and peel them, then remove their bellies and heads, salt them all over, dry them with a clean kitchen towel and fry them in hot oil until they are crispy and the meat is white and bloodless. Optionally, you can add garlic sauce to give it more flavor.

Se ve realmente delicioso este almuerzo que preparaste para tu familia, sé que lo apreciaron, sobre todo tratándose de pescado que lleva un trabajo preparar, pero lo has hecho muy bien. La remolacha es una de mis verduras favoritas, puedo comerla hasta sola y me encanta, así que el hecho de que la hayas agregado a tu platillo fue un punto a tu favor.

That was conscientious, and I'm sure that your parents appreciated it.

I didn't know that. I HATE cleaning and preparing fish, but this trick could be a game-changer.

The beetroot caught my eye because it's one of my favourite foods. I particularly like that you jazzed up the rice too. I tend to do that with my rice dishes instead of just plain white rice.
