Well, if you think about it, blue is one of the primary colors, so it's normal that many people like it. Red and even yellow or green are also nice colors. Now, if you think about food, blue is one of the most absent colors in food because it is not something we relate to food.

Yes, blue is one of the primaries, and specifically, ultramarine blue. Red and yellow (specific ones) are the other three. Green, orange, and purple are composites of mixing the primaries and are the contrasting complimentary colours. You're right about blue being one of the most absent colours in food. Even blueberries are more of a purple.
