HOW MUCH REST DO YOU GET?
Greetings to all the amazing parents in this community! I trust we are all doing great and staying safe.

It's no doubt that parenting comes with lots of task and stress most of the time however catching some rest/sleep is also essential inorder to have an optimal good health to continue our day to day activities without breaking down suddenly and then discover that we won't be able to carry out any task atall within the  moment.

Since the school resumed for this term, it has been stress all through for me. My kids do follow school bus daily and their pick up time used to be 7:15am to 7:30am while they commence assembly by 8am in the school. However their pick up time changed since this term to 6am due to some adjustments by the school Administrator and obviously it has been telling on my body. My kids and I has to reduce the hour of sleep we do get before inorder to catch up with the school bus. The stress is more on me considering my new born baby that I care for coupled with school stress which ranges from preparing their lunch every morning, washing, cleaning and the rest. At the end of the day, I still will not have enough rest. I found myself going to bed very late at night trying to put one or two things in order and still wake up 4am to cook for them and get the kids prepared, it hasn't been easy. I have done this consistently for some weeks now  and few days ago I broke down, at first I thought it's malaria fever. I kept having pains all over my joints but then keep taking pain reliever. Not until yesterday, the school sent me a message informing me that they will be observing a two day mid term break which is today and tomorrow then comes the weekend. I was super excited 🤩, I wished the break was for one week, I will be more happy.

Guess what? My kids and I slept like new born babies for the first time today since the resumption date. We have been resting and relaxing since morning and just this evening, I discovered that all joint pains has suddenly disappeared without pain reliever anymore. So I began to think out loud that stress is a silent killer!

Now that I know better, I have already set up a new resolution for the remaining term and the subsequent term. I will have to include resting time in my time table for my daily activities. I would have to overlook some chores atimes and rest for my dear life. Come to think of it, house chores doesn't finish and many mothers like me doesn't like keeping some aside but I have learnt in a hard way anyways.

Finally mothers, how much rest do you get daily? Just like food is important to our lives so is rest/sleep inorder to be more sound and alert in our parenting journey. So I encourage all to always create out time to rest no matter how much we are engaged and wants to meet up with our set targets, it will help a lot!
