La variante Omicron, es una mutación que resulta de la variante delta pero con la gran diferencia que tiene un alto nivel de transmisión y sus mutaciones es muy rápida, no obstante que esta variante promueve una gran supresión del sistema inmunitario, representando así una gran potencial para acelerar la función del sistema inmunitario.

Esta variante resulta de gran preocupación ya que posee 32 mutaciones en la proteína S, tendrán 22 células, mientras que el receptor que se va unir constituye 10 células, por lo que la hará variante que reúne nueve mutaciones de gran peligrosidad.

Esta variante a ocacionado que se reduzca la eficacia de algunas vacunas, debido a que las mismas van a contener proteína S, lo que hará que el virus pueda cambiar rápidamente, cabe destacar que debido a esto es que se reduce la efectividad en esta variante omicron. Cabe destacar que esto no hace que la vacuna no funcione, sino a las veces anteriores que el virus atacó al paciente, por lo que hará que se cambie o modifique la región del virus y eso hará que los anticuerpos no pueda ser reconocidos por el mismo.

A pesar que esta variante apenas es muy nueva aún se requiere más evidencia científica que puede determinar, si aumenta más el riesgo de muerte. Sin embargo en la actualidad el continente africano es el más afectado y sus casos indican mediante los síntomas que afecta más que el resto de las otras variantes.

En cuanto a las medidas preventivas se debe evitar la desesperación, el miedo y estrés que pueda generar esta variante, se debe exaltar ante todo la prevención como el uso constante del tapaboca y evitar los ambientes cerrados con presencia de muchas personas y preferir los lugares abiertos.
