Yesterday I started the Responsive Web Design course under the Freecodecamp curriculum. I was able to complete the Basic HMTL and HMTL5 sections. Today, I covered the Basic CCS section of the course. It took about 2 hours 30 mins to conclude this section.

I also visited the NetNinja CSS course on youtube. I needed visual aid to understand some of the concepts fully. It has helped me in the past, so I recommend you give it a shot whenever you get stuck in your coding journey. NetNinja happens to be my go-to guy for anything regarding web development. He makes web development a lot easier than it is. I even bought his Javascript course on Udemy (which I am also yet to finish).

I was able to cover basic aspects of CSS like syntax, selectors, text formatting and the box model. When I started this course some years back I had issues understanding the box model. Today it was a lot clearer. I can’t overemphasize how important knowing the basics is when it comes to applying visual designs–which is the next part of this course. There is a lot of ingenuity that goes into creating a web page (if you aren’t using a framework/libraries). So it is important to know why things appear the way they do on your screen so you are able to take chances when it matters.

Overall, it was a brief (2hours 30mins) review of something I learnt two years ago (how time flies). Not as exciting as working on a project but learning is crucial. There is a lot of time-wasting one can avoid by just learning properly no matter how boring. So I am not trying to cut corners. I will learn/relearn as much as I can during these early stages.

I wanted to jump to the next section of the course but I decided to take things one day at a time. No need for a rush. I have other obligations to attempt to. I should be done with the Responsive Web Design course in 8 days. So I will have the rest of May to focus on JavaSCript, which is what I am truly interested in.


**CAN I KEEP POSTING ABOUT MY UPDATES DAILY?**

I believe at some point I might encounter some setbacks in terms of posting updates here on hive, considering that every day might not be eventful. So I will opt for a tri-weekly update while consistently updating my tweet feeds with dbuzz via my alt-account (@nonsowrites.pob). I think this is good to avoid boring my audience and those who want to keep up with my progress.

I am open to ideas on creative ways of sharing my coding journey. I might opt for videos at some point, to show you guys the projects I am working on and some of the difficulties I encounter.
