Every now and then I come back here–where it all started 12 years ago. It has been a long, long time. I have had plans for this page–to revamp it but I just have to deal with the fact that this blog is my past. I can revisit, occasionally, but nothing more than that sadly.

Today I was thinking about this blog and the time I spent trying to build it–mainly for the fun of it. I knew I was always going to write for a living (despite the crudeness of my writing skill--yes< I am still dealing with imposter syndrome.) but I never thought writing short stories and poems was going to take me far. It was more of a hobby and my link to the world around me.

By the way, I don’t write poems anymore. My dreams of becoming a published poet / spoken words poet are long gone. Life happened, I lost my creativity; I lost my ability to feel. A byproduct of age and trauma (by the way, protect your core/essence/innocence. once it is gone it never comes back). My last attempt at writing a creative piece seemed quite forced. I don’t know, are there still stories to tell? Every creative endeavour feels the same. People are basically propagating and recycling old ideas, or maybe I have been doing this for too long and everything seems familiar.

I met a lot of people here 12 years ago when I started this blog and I can’t help but wonder how the journey has been so far for some of you. I am currently anchoring a group of prospective creatives/bloggers, and I can’t help but laugh at some of their audacious dreams. I would be dreaming still if I did not discover web3; I would be scavenging for the internet for views and the sort of stuff creatives on web2 struggle with on a daily basis. It is really hard to make it out here and I do not judge anyone who isn’t gaining the needed traction to monetize their content or brand.

I would love to get into the discussion of why web3 is better than  web2 but that would require further explanation I can’t cover in this post, maybe another day. What I do want to know is how your journey has been so far (as a blogger)? Did this hobby or passion turn out to be rewarding (financially)? Did you get the traction you needed? Does any of these things even still matter now?

Well, I am still a blogger. I write everything (my life depends on it). It is my hobby and job–the only thing I have been consistent with for the past 12 years. There were so breaks. I got into college, wasted time but somehow blogging found me again and I have never let go ever since then. This is my miracle; this is my dream; this is my life.

I made it (I guess), in the most unusual way. I did not write a book; I did not become a freelancer or any of the things I dreamt of back then. I remained a blogger, sharing opinion pieces and pieces of my life. This might change soon. News Flash! I am old(er) and not much of a dreamer anymore. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I don’t know that many people who are doing so currently. Life gets in the way and people tend to choose survival/money over themselves.
