Say hello to the "woke" theocracy... **Nerd By Northwest #246 – “Rise of the ‘Church of Woke'”** _(Click on the image to see the full-size version)_ <a href="https://images.hive.blog/DQmSwxVkG5LE7dXD8C3H63Y2v7b1PRJeB8FTvb58a7FjbSU/NBNW0246.jpg"> <img src="https://images.hive.blog/DQmSwxVkG5LE7dXD8C3H63Y2v7b1PRJeB8FTvb58a7FjbSU/NBNW0246.jpg"></img></a> --- The first time I heard the term "Church of Woke" was from Vin Armani, former TV star of the show "Gigolos" and notable figure in the cryptocurrency world. I admit it sounded funny & absurd the first time I heard it. But as time went on and I thought about it, it really _does_ accurately describe this cultural trend as a whole. What better name for a cultural movement of conformity & intolerance of differing opinions, all wrapped in a disguise of social justice, diversity, and good intentions? That's not to say people identifying with this movement are bad; on the contrary I'd say most of them are people with good hearts (probably better than mine) and the best intentions. But like history has shown time and time again, even noble causes can be hijacked and perverted for selfish purposes. IMO, the "Church Of Woke" is following this exact pattern. To sum up, we can be happy about Trump being gone and cautiously hope for better things under the new administration, WITHOUT buying into the hero worship. For hardware, I now use a Gaomon PD1560 Drawing Tablet (before then it was pen & paper scanned into the computer). For software, most of the time I use the free paint.net software. I have the Corel suite of products too, but for the comics most of the time the paint.net software is sufficient and plenty user friendly...

If you look carefully, you'll notice they tend to say "**The** Science" instead of "science". A subtle but telling indicator that their opinions are largely based on belief & faith, not information. That, and they're seldom able to explain HOW they're right beyond saying that an "expert" said so. And when a scientist or expert disagrees with the dominant narrative? Instead of being met with countering evidence in a public forum, they are usually marginalized, silenced, and ostracized. What a coincidence that is _just_ the kind of thing that rigid religious movements do to heretics... 😉

I will try not to be too 'woke' (if that's a bad thing) :) My motto is generally to not be shitty to others, whatever their race, religion or culture. People are individuals and should be judged as such by their actions. Women do seem to get judged more on what they wear, whatever they wear. I'm sure Harris would be prefer to be judged on what she does in her job. Politicians are human too, but some consider themselves 'special'. "Woke" is a term that is _supposed_ to be positive, in the sense that the stated goals are to end racism, sexism, & oppression in the culture. Good goals to work towards. Unfortunately, in large part it has turned into a movement practicing social bullying, authoritarianism, groupthink, and intolerance for views different from theirs. Pretty much the same thing you see with certain people who use their religion as an excuse & tool to seek power or status over others. I can and will judge Biden and Kamala on their actions rather than their appearance... though over then next couple years I'm betting they'll probably wish it were otherwise! 😉
