I looked on the news this morning and i saw how badly the heat wave is affecting countries in the west. I can't help it but imagine how they are coping with the heat. It was reported that many people were hospitalized due to the severity of the heat. It must be really hard for them over there. 

Weather is a very vital human survival as it plays a vital role in aiding us biologically and otherwise.

There are many climate catastrophe that many people has experienced. One of the most common climate issues is that of flooding. I have witnessed flooding when i was still very young, and i know how devastating it can be. Ranging from damaged property to even death, flooding has proven to be a very catastrophic weather phenomenon. Mostly, people who surfer it the most are those that live close to rivers. 


Growing up in the Northern part of Nigeria where rainfall comes with heavy wind that can sweep an adult off of their feet, I found my self constantly battling with flooding. Over there, there were no trees to reduce wind velocity. There use to be very heavy rainfall over there, accompanied by strong breeze. 

In more than 1 occasions, we do call a carpenter to repair our home roof because the strong breeze removed it from the building. When rain pull the roof, we will have to start covering our appliances so that water will not spoil it. The crazy part of all these things is that, sometimes, when this heavy rain is falling, there will still be electricity even after the roof have been pulled out. Even with lots of bracing on the roof to prevent it from pulling out, strong wind will still pull it out.

I was still a kid during that time. I think i was in a range of 6 to 10 years. Before rain starts, we will brace ourselves for the unfortunate. My dad will take all appliances to a safe spot. It was really hell that time. 


Sometimes, when it floods, rain water will begin to enter the house through the door. When this happens, everyone, young or old, will get a container and start pouring water outside. It was as if we were in a boat that was pierced by an object, so, we had to constantly empty the boat.

Most of the times, after this incident, my Siblings and I will fall sick for a long time. It got a point when we left the neighborhood. By the way, this thing was not just happening to only us. 

The next place we got was way more better. There will be no need of running around or panicking when we see that the weather is gradually changing. We could sleep peacefully when it rain. That experience was not funny at all, but then, i'm glad that we navigated through the rough situation without chronic casualties.
