Today’s top nomination as curated by @jznsamuel: @topkpop gives us something really quite unique here on Steemit. A children's story! That in itself is pretty unique here, but it comes with accompanying, self-made photos setting the scene of this fantastical story of a dinosaur trying to make friends. If you can't be bothered to read, it doesn't even matter because it *also* comes with a mini audiobook telling the story with fantastic narration with pictures to match! So sit back and enjoy this, because you won't find it anywhere else on Steemit. <sub> and it's ongoing!</sub>

Our second piece, discovered by @mobbs, is a post by @erodedthoughts which explores the darker corner of Steemit. This is one part of many of a diary, this one in particular on Christmas day, but not the jolly family-perfect Christmas you may expect. This is closer to a horror story, but it's so applicable to the real world, you could easily be fooled into thinking this is a non-fiction. erodedthought's convincing writing style forces you to think about the reality that is out there for so many, and I think it's a very valuable continuous read.

Our third piece as curated by @mk40: Sticking with the horror theme (I mean sure, it's October), @cizzo shows us the first part of a story they wrote that really sets the scene; camping out in the forest, acoustic guitar in toe, innocent ballads were to be played but as soon as things start playing, something terrible happens. Our fourth piece as curated by @ma1neevent: You know when you're bored at work, or just generally have time to waste?
 Some of us use that time to smoke, others use it to put our heads down and catch up with sleep. @laabo-afolabi instead decides to get creative and doodles. But these aren't the kind of doodles I associate with the term 'doodle'. These are *good*. These are what I call *art in the making*. I really feel there's a lot of potential here. Go express your opinion too!

Our fifth piece, curated by @guyfawkes4-20 is an inadvertent life lesson by @lucylin. Observing his girlfriend try to fix technology without any previous training, reflections on the way society is becoming useless were inevitable. The more luxury we are given, the less capable we are at dealing with things when that luxury breaks down (as it inevitably does). Growing up on a farm or with active parents can bring about confidence to look after oneself, something more valuable than anything our decadent lives of capitalism can offer. Food for thought worth checking out below!

Our sixth piece, curated by @m31 keeps with the theme of self-care by @crystalize, who relishes in the ability to make things yourself and avoid turning things over and looking at that blasted 'made in china' sticker. crystalize decided to rescue some old lamps by using their own creativity and style to 'breath new life' into them. This is a valuable reminder to stop being so wasteful and enjoy what we have available to us,all while praising the artists among us. As an artist in China, I can *super* appreciate this post and so should you!

Our seventh piece as curated by @anomadsoul: What is flirting? Your initial reaction, I'm guessing, was to simply read on, your synapses dismissing the question as obvious. but @geoffd84 makes some pretty good points that flirting isn't so easy to define, often being interpreted completely differently among genders, and this can cause a lot of trouble sociologically. Our eighth piece as curated by @suesa-20: @raycoms does something quite special here. I typically avoid programming and computer-ey stuff because I'm 30, which is far too old to learn computer stuff usually. But here, we are introduced to a pretty cool and very simplified way of breaking things down and just making everything make sense. Now I know what some programming terminology actually means, and it comes with funny little cartoon drawings too! Go learn something below now!

Our ninth piece as curated by @thethirdeye: @migzillion takes a look at the philosopher and introvert Michel de Montaigne. The views of this individual are immensely applicable to today's hyper-narcissistic societies, and we should really take a step back and then move forward in Montaigne's strides.
