# *How Does Steem Fits Into Crypto Industry?* Every alternative coin out there is aiming to solve specific problem, while some of the projects are of huge importance, some of them remianed less relevant but still improvement to current system. For instance, Monero is seeking to solve privacy issues, ensuring its customers to be fully anonymous while transacting, Ethereum is currently the epicenter of decentralized finance and will probably stay that way. It's worth saying that majority of projects out there are simultaniously sharing the same problems with approaches being different, thus making compettition quite strong. Steem on the other hand has literally slim to none competition in the space and we need to be aware of such advantage and fucking leverage it. Giving the fact SMT's will provide turnkey solution with all the steem blockchain properties implemented, such as PoB concept and inflation. This makes us waaaay ahead which is quite nice. To get a bigger picture, think this way. In case you want to build a business on the blockchain technology, you would have to code everything in regards to your projects (or pay someone, which is quite expensive and time consuming) while the risks of coding smart contracts are enormously high. A single mistake might be fatal. This way, one only has to set the parametars and is ready to go. The governance remains questionable, but we are currently one of the most decentralized platform in terms of *stake* and wealth distribution(crypto wise) , which is kinda worth emphasizing on. However, with a recent acquisition of steemit.inc, this claim might be put to a test. During the bear market, token distribution made steem more decentralized, at least if compared with steem 2 years ago. I guess programmatic selling by steemit helped us along the way putting more pressure on the market, but we are still far from being fully decentralized, where we don't need to worry about 51% attack or being afraid of externals to taking over. That is the problem with DPoS system, it's fundamentaly set that way where big stake holders, also known as whales lead the game. On the other hand, centralized structures are obviously unorganized, while centralized entities are more organized, thus making them supperior to us. <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQbpB5bxKQ8b2SR5qvJqutwcRmDCTaPJAC9amukKJ5xAB/image.png</center> But the sentiment shift is obvious. Biggest accounts are starting to curate manually which is the best indicator of platforms health. I guess EIP wasn't such a bad idea after all. Every time I get skeptical around this place I remind myself on all the changes made in relatively short period of time. Are you aware of what has been done? Economical changes brought us better wealth distribution and increased manual curation which i find to be the most critical problem we were facing at the time. Steem DAO is ensuring funds for further development and is of high importance for the system as a whole. SMTs are being tested at a moment and are considered to bring the revolution in favor of tokenizing the web. As a turnkey solution that doesn't require further coding is just fucking awesome. Communities are already implemented and i can see the value it will provide in months to come. We need to keep on grinding before market makes a shift. I'm hoping to see more communities being built and properly managed, which will consequently ensure that everyone can find their spot within this eco system. We are still pretty small community, and majority is more informed and involved with the blockchain tech and governance issues if comapred with average social media user. This place demands more effort to be involved in order to earn trust and votes by the community. On the contrary, if we are seeking to retain users for social involvement there must be social structure for people to seemingly interact without being afraid to get downvoted due to a dissagreemant. Retaliation is a bitch. But I assume this part will be solved in a few months. Holy fuck, interesting times are ahead of us. Keep up that hustle! A great summary of all that is taking place here. There is a lot going on which will really help us to move forward. Steem is rather unique and we must all work to keep it that way. There are threats, as we are well aware, and all must be done to alleviate them. I concur about the programmed selling by Steemit....imagine who things would look if they weren't dumping 800K tokens per month on the open market? Appreciate it, well i suppose that technology and community aint enough. We will need a lot more in oreder to climb the ladder... I guess luck needs to be provoked 1 000 000 times before actual success
