To me it's pretty clear what happened, and I don't get why you are spreading FUD and making clickbait titles.  You make plenty of great posts, please don't bring this inflammatory behaviour here.
If you want to have a conversation about how we can all improve the platform, great I'm down! but assuming that just removing the downvote button is going to solve everything, then I need to tell you how bad Steemit was back in the day before that was added.  It's not what we want! 
I personally think this is largely ego, and bad communication that has lead to much of this.  The solution is to get better at communication, and learn how to function better as a community.  Personally I recommend listening to talks by Daryl Davis.  Sure he's talking to some extreme cases, but he manages to bridge that huge divide, and it's transformed a lot of people's lives.  We could all take a page from his book!

Sounds like people with some stake have downvoted the account a ton.  Clearly the nah sayers, have more stake than the supporters.  That is how proof of stake works, even if the stake was created via proof of brain, or is literally POB.
Think of this as real life.  If proof of brain was a person, they might have behaved in a way that made people not like them, or just not understand them.  Now everyone as a crowd reacts to this, and the issue is amplified.  We tell kids not to bully, and yet it's still a thing that happens.  So what can be done?
Well even tho little POB person might not have intended anything bad, or even any bad they did do was due to a misunderstanding, they are not going to solve it by simply complaining about it, and demanding someone fix it for them.  That's how we got government involved in our personal lives in the first place, and why decentralization is a movement right now!  So POB has to face the music that the world is still not perfect, and it's on them to learn how to correct their image by communicating better!  
The people who learn how to express themselves, rather than simply conforming to the world, usually end up becoming the most influential people out there as a result!  So the point is that POB started as a great idea, but there have been challenges, and there always will be more!  How they are handled are actually opportunities to bring POB to the next level, but just complaining that someone doesn't like POB, doesn't make anyone want to like POB.  It looks bad for both sides!  So lets turn this ugly mess, into a positive conversation, where we all work on listening to each other, and actually trying to understand where the other side is coming from.

It is not censored.  That is misleading.  A post that gets enough downvotes or when the individual have a negative rating (as is the case with spammers), some of the front ends  hide the posts.  They are on the blockchain though and anyone can see them.

The founder of the ***Proof of Brain*** tribe got into a disagreement with one or two Hive whales and they started massively DV’ing every post and comment he made with the stated purpose (by one of the account holders) of destroying his rep score, which is exactly what happened. 

Although I disagree with the aforementioned behavior, I view this primarily as a front end issue. The front ends should allow folks to permanently unhide posts from trusted accounts and to set their own criteria for hiding posts from those with low rep scores. 

As I've stated elsewhere (like [here](https://peakd.com/hive-engine/@trostparadox/although-subjectively-downvoting-posts-to-zero-is-anathema-to-me-the-layer-1-ability-to-do-so-must-remain-for-now-at-least)), we need to focus our efforts on Layer 2 solutions.

Improving the front-ends, to make them more customer-centric rather than blockchain-centric would be a great start, imo.

This is because of low ratings of @proofofbrainio, luckily since his last post, his ratings improved form -6 to -2 now.
I wish he keeps posting regularly and that way soon his ratings will be back on track.
