### Quick update regarding HERTZ

TL;DR: HERTZ is an upcoming Algorithm based asset (MPA) on the BTS DEX, it predictably oscillates the feed price using a sin wave, thus creating phases of buying and selling pressure constantly back and forth forever.

* USD currently leading the poll for reference asset. It'll potentially be worth creating additional HERTZ tokens (Hertz.RefAsset.Frequency.Amp) if HERTZ proves popular.
* A [minimized reference Haskell price feed script](https://github.com/grctest/HERTZ-Price-feed-script/blob/master/min_hertz.hs) has been created, simplifying the concept and enabling CLI variable input.
* @wackou [responded to the price feed script issue I created](https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/issues/24#issuecomment-306741609), he's interested in the idea however is currently busy with the peerplays launch. Good to see support building though :)
* I'm still [waiting to hear back from xeroc](https://github.com/xeroc/bitshares-pricefeed/issues/3#issuecomment-312132557) regarding HERTZ integration into his price feed scripts. He's understandably a very busy individual.

To be sincere, i am still not able to understand bitshares.

I'm going to try to attend, but I can't guarantee it with what I have going on in my life. The questions that really pops into my head that I'd love answered in-depth in the Hangout are these: 

How do I properly diversify my  Holdings in Cryptocurrency in order to create a 401K-style nest-egg?

Do you think Cryptocurrency will, one day in the near future, become a truly viable payment option for mainstream purchases?

Are there any plans to create Debit Cards that use Crypto as the default monetary mechanism?

How can I position myself for major movement when I don't have much money to be able to purchase/acquire BTC or other Crypto?

Is it a reliable/viable option to do Cloud Mining? and which Cloud Mining options would you recommend?

I know, there's several questions. I'm really hoping the Hangout Chat is recorded so that, if I am unable to attend, I can listen to all of the great information and/or advice.

Hello!  My proposed topic isn't specific to BitShares, but more in regards to the larger development and adoption of Blockchain Technology.  BitShares is a great launch  pad for the conversation as easily accessible Blockchain foundations for platforms such as exchanges are the next step toward the adoption of crypto.  If you want to keep topics specifically about BitShares just let me know and I'll remove the proposal.

**PROPOSAL**

The recent attention to digital assets, particularly BTC and ETH, has inflated the price of every minor asset.  At the same time, new blockchain protocols and iterations, such as BitShares providing extreme ease of access to a blockchain backend and Gridcoin's DPoR redirecting PoW hash power to BOINC processing, are adding real value to digital assets.  At the same time, the World Economic Forum this past week has mentioned Blockchain technology in the context of undervalued and underappreciated disruptive technologies on numerous occasions.  

... at the same time more corporations and governments are accepting and exploring Blockchain technology.  

...  at the same time, major assets are rapidly adapting to compensate for their specific issues (ETH to PoS and BTC with Segwit). 

... at the same time, the increase in accessibility -- think metamask etc. -- encourages people with no understanding of Blockchain technology to trade assets as though they were pogs.  For example.  A blockchain enthusiast and an intelligent, though uninformed, engineer walk into a bar:

"Hi what to you do?"
"I blah blah and blah.  Oh, I'm also part of the larger cryptocurrency community working toward advancing technology and adoption etc. etc."
"Oh cool me too!  Do you have ETH?!"
"Yeah!  What do you think of the scaling issues and potential switch to proof of stake?"
"What?  All i know is ETH is going to be worth more than BTC one day.  I just bought another right now."

QUESTION:

With a boom in accessibility, adoption, adaption, price, volume, and technology, but a severe lack of common knowledge and access to education, is Blockchain technology and its digital assets ready for the main stream?  Or is this attention similar to 2013/14 which ultimately popped and sent the Blockchain back to the garage for 3 years?

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

I think that blockchain technology is going to seep into mainstream use just as did e-mail -- people will be using it but will honestly have no idea how it works -- also similar to the current banking system.  As generations are born into blockchain technology, this will change, but for now, the dangers of rapid adoption with little education outweigh its rewards.  I am intensely optimistic regarding the long term adoption of crypto/processing economies, but I fear for the people that are approaching a cryptoworld of a few dozen brilliant blockchain technologies and several hundred speculation scams.

Crypto moves fast, but perhaps we're pushing it too fast for its own good -- ICO's vs true development etc.  Consider: Of the hundreds of alternative blockchains from 2013-2014, how many still exist?  how many are still in development?  how many still hold communities?
