Battal Gazi Efsanesi

Emeviler zamanında Anadolu'da Bizans imparatoluğuna karşı savaşlarda ünlenmi,ş Müslümanlar ve özellikle Alevi Bektaşi Türkler tarafından Gazi sıfatıyla yüceltilip destan kahramanı haline getirilmiş ve efsanevi bir kimlik haline gelmiş Battal Gazi'yle ilgili değişik bilgiler mevcuttur.

Anadolu'da özellikle gerçek kimliğinden çok efanevi kimliğyile öne çıkan Battal Gazi, Endülüs ile Orta Asya Coğrafyasının kahramanı haline gelmiştir.

Türkler Anadolu'ya göç ettiklerinde onun destanlarıyla karşılaşıp büyük hayranlık duymuşlardır, bu yüzden onunla ilgili menkıbeleri yeniden yorumlamışlardır.

Bu şekilde Anadolu'yu fethetmiş efsanevi bi kişilik haline gelen Battal Gazi'ye XIII. veya XIV. sAsırda Seyyidlik payesi verilmiştir. Böylece daha XIII. Asırda hem Bizanslılar hem de Türkler Battal Gazi'yle ilgili çeşitli rivayetler ortaya atmışlardır.

Menkıbe kaynakları ve söylenceler haricinde Battal Gazi'yle ilgili çok az bilgi bulunmaktadır. Bütün rivayetlerin ortak teması Battal Gazi'nin kahramanlıklarıdır. Nitekim ona "Battal" lakabı kahramanlıklarından dolayı uygun görülmüştür.
