Desde hace un par de años me he interesado mucho sobre la cultura japonesa, especialmente en su escena musical la cual me parece estupenda y de la cual ya me declaro fan. Es así como me he encontrado con esta película que me llamó la atención por enterarme sobre la aparición de una de esas agrupaciones japonesas a las que sigo junto a la actriz que caracterizó a uno de mis personajes más queridos en mi juventud interpretando a Kate.

For a couple of years now I have been very interested in Japanese culture, especially in its music scene, which I think is great and of which I already declare myself a fan. That's how I came across this film that caught my attention because I found out about the appearance of one of those Japanese groups that I follow along with the actress who played Kate, one of the most beloved characters in my youth.

Es una película, original de Netflix y dirigida por el francés Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, trata sobre una asesina a sueldo que jamás ha fallado un trabajo, pero ante su último “encargo” falla y comienza a sufrir de mareos, dándose cuenta que ha sido envenenada mortalmente. Así que decide descubrir el por qué y quién lo ha hecho.

Durante el desarrollo de la trama, Kate conoce a Ani, quien es la hija de aquel objetivo que Kate no pudo eliminar y con la cual crea un lazo mientras transcurre su búsqueda en contra reloj ya que en menos de 24 horas el veneno habrá hecho efecto. Así que juntas (quieran o no) comenzarán a escudriñar entre todas las facciones de los temidos e intocables Yakuza intentando llegar a sus líderes para así poder dar con la persona que la ha envenenado.

Nosotros somos testigos de como las condiciones físicas de Kate se van deteriorando producto de su envenenamiento pero a pesar de eso sigue teniendo las habilidades de toda una mercenaria de alto nivel y con una actitud de “lo hago porque quiero y porque puedo” mientras tanto Ani, quien por sangre también es parte de la mafia Yakuza la ayuda sin saber que Kate era la encargada de darle fin a su padre, así que ambas marchan juntas con verdades a medias que poco a poco se irán desvelando con el transcurso de la historia

Esta película está llena de escenas de acción y de grandes coreografías de luchas ambientadas en la fascinante Tokio, en donde podemos ver un poco sobre la cultura pop en sus calles, acompañando a Kate entre callejones de Akihabara, y otras zonas famosas mientras va recolectando rápidamente las claves para dar con quienes la han condenado a muerte antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

It's a movie, Netflix original and directed by French Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, is about a contract killer who has never failed a job, but before her last "assignment" fails and begins to suffer from dizziness, realizing that she has been fatally poisoned. So she decides to find out why and who has done it.

During the development of the plot, Kate meets Ani, who is the daughter of the target that Kate could not eliminate and with whom she creates a bond as she goes through her search against the clock because in less than 24 hours the poison will have taken effect. So together (whether they want to or not) they begin to sift through all the factions of the feared and untouchable Yakuza trying to get to their leaders in order to find the person who has poisoned her.

We witness how Kate's physical conditions are deteriorating as a result of her poisoning but despite that, she still has the skills of a high-level mercenary and with an attitude of "I do it because I want to and because I can" while Ani, who by blood is also part of the Yakuza mafia helps her without knowing that Kate was responsible for ending her father, so both march together with half-truths that will gradually be revealed in the course of the story.

This movie is full of action scenes and great fight choreography set in the fascinating Tokyo, where we can see a bit of pop culture in its streets, accompanying Kate through the alleys of Akihabara, and other famous areas as she quickly collects the clues to find those who have condemned her to death before it's too late.

El casting está encabezado por la actriz Mary Elizabeth Winstead en el papel de Kate, y es reconocida por papeles como el de la icónica, hermosa y super genial de los amores... Ramona Flowers en Scott Pilgrim vs the world y más recientemente, como la cazadora en Birds of Prey.

El genial Woody Harrelson que como siempre desempeña una excelente interpretación como Varrick, el clásico mercenario sin sentimientos que le ha enseñado a Kate todas sus habilidades y técnicas como asesina y quien la emplea para completar los “trabajos” que él consigue.

Completa la tríada Miku Patricia Martineau, una actriz, cantante y modelo canadiense de madre japonesa que interpreta el papel de Ani, hija de un mafioso japonés al cual Kate no pudo eliminar en su último encargo.

Disfruté mucho de la interpretación de esta chica ya que maneja a la perfección tanto el idioma japonés como el inglés sumado a una actitud bastante divertida y juvenil pese a todo el conflicto que la rodea.

The casting is led by actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Kate, and she is known for such roles as the iconic, beautiful, and super-cool love interest... Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs the world and most recently, as the Huntress in Birds of Prey.

The great Woody Harrelson as always gives an excellent performance as Varrick, the classic unfeeling mercenary who has taught Kate all his skills and techniques as an assassin and who employs her to complete the "jobs" he gets.

Rounding out the triad is Miku Patricia Martineau, a Canadian actress, singer, and model with a Japanese mother who plays the role of Ani, the daughter of a Japanese mobster whom Kate failed to eliminate in her last assignment.

I really enjoyed this girl's performance as she has a perfect command of both the Japanese and English languages along with a very funny and youthful attitude despite all the conflict that surrounds her.

Cabe destacar que en Kate aparecen personajes de la cultura pop japonesa, tal es el caso de la agrupación femenina de Rock BAND-MAID de la cual el director es fanático declarado y la cual es una de las que tiene actualmente mayor proyección internacional en cuanto a agrupaciones japonesas de alta calidad.

Debo confesar que llegué a esta película por la aparición de la agrupación BAND-MAID y por su portagonista Mary Elizabeth Winstead a quien juré amor eterno por haber interpretado a Ramona Flowers del amor y de la justicia! Pero ademas de quedarme con unas buenas escenas de acción en un Tokio al que tanto deseo conocer... También me quedo con la actuación de Miku Patricia Martineau que me hizo amar y tener mucha empatía con su personaje. Me gustaría verla en otras producciones nuevamente, Aunque por ahora está más enfocada en su carrera como cantante.


La fotografía me agradó bastante, ver la vida nocturna de Tokio junto a sus luces de neón, sus sonidos, sus callejones estrechos acompañando a escenas con un ritmo apresurado y con mucha acción!

Así que sí te gustan las películas de acción con buenas coreografías, la mafia y cultura japonesa, disparos y demás gente volando, pin pum pan kboom + explosiones! Esta película te va a interesar.

I must confess that I came to this film because of the appearance of the group BAND-MAID and its leading lady Mary Elizabeth Winstead to whom I swore eternal love for having played Ramona Flowers of love and justice! But in addition to some good action scenes in Tokyo that I want to know so much... I also keep Miku Patricia Martineau's performance which made me love and empathizes with her character. I would like to see her in other productions again. Although for now, she is more focused on her singing career.


I quite liked the photography, seeing Tokyo's nightlife with its neon lights, its sounds, and narrow alleys accompanying fast-paced, action-packed scenes!

So if you like action movies with good choreographies, mafia, and Japanese culture, shooting and other people flying, *Bang! pum! pan! kboom!* + explosions! This movie will interest you.
