Hello everyone! This is my first entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Champion Ranked.

<div class="text-justify">I fought an interesting battle in Modern Champion ranked. In this game, I fought against Heloise under the What Doesn't Kill You and the Reverse Speed rule sets. Heloise's Spite triggers upon death, and the only way for a unit to die in this game is to have its HP at 0, which is, by definition, less than the max HP, which must always be 1 or more. This means that, under the What Doesn't Kill You rule set, Enrage will always be active when Spite triggers. This is a very significant boost for Heloise, which gets more attack and speed, often attacking units that haven't taken any damage yet, making it more likely for Heloise to hit her targets and get kills in one shot. Even the Soul Siphon part brings Heloise back with half of her HP. She's one of the best units for this rule set, if not the best! However, Reverse Speed changes everything! Suddenly, Enrage is more of a Drawback than a benefit. More attack means nothing if she can't hit her targets. Does this mean it was an easy game? Certainly not! It was an RNG fest with every Spite making me pray it went my way!</div>

<div class="text-justify">This game had the following rule sets: Counterspell, What Doesn't Kill You, and Reverse Speed. It was a 47 mana cap game, with only Death available. I went with Lorkus and placed Thragha in front. The Flank allowed me to place Mantaroth in the Reach position. Next, I had Ferrous Brewer, Arcane Skinwalker, and Deep Delver. I finished with Shadowfey Sheik. They opted for Razi Clanktrap and put Heloise the Hollow in front. They followed it up with Pallus, Deep Delver, and Venka the Vile. After that, they used Wailing Wraith, very much out of position but with the extremely important role of providing the second Rust. They finished the team with Arcane Skinwalker. I gave Life Leech and Affliction to Mantaroth and the Brewer. Fury and Trample would also have been an interesting option. It would make the Brewer kill Heloise right away and deal 5 to Pallus, just from the first attack. Thinking about it now, it was probably the better option.</div>

# Round 1

<div class="text-justify">The Brewer hurt Heloise, and Thragha killed it for the first time. Spite missed, and Pallus became Weary. Mantaroth killed Heloise again, and Spite hit, this time. It was Deep Delver's turn to get Weary. My own Deep Delver took out Heloise again. Thankfully, Spite missed. Venka got Weary. Their Deep Delver healed most of the damage their team had taken. It attacked my first unit, which Pallus finished. My two magic units killed Heloise once more, with Spite taking out my Sheik. Skinwalker took the Weary. Venka and Skinwalker attack my Mantaroth down to 5 HP.</div>

# Round 2

<div class="text-justify">The Brewer killed Heloise, for the fifth time, and Spite missed, although the armor made it less relevant. The Wraith was their last non-Weary unit, which meant this was the last Soul Siphon. My Deep Delver eliminated Heloise, for good, and Spite failed to claim one last victim. Mantaroth's attack was enough to finish their Deep Delver with the Blast damage, giving my team back some of the armor. Pallus went down to 1 HP after the Skinwalker's attack. It also became exhausted, but Venka and Skinwalker attacked my Mantaroth, although they were unable to finish it. Instead, it was their Skinwalker that died to the Magic Reflect.</div>

# Round 3

<div class="text-justify">The Brewer killed Pallus, and Mantaroth's attacks finished the game, after Deep Delver dealt some damage.</div>

<div class="text-justify">This game was a good reminder that I should always look at what Ferocity and Trample can do for me, instead of automatically choosing Life Leech and Affliction. I don't think it would have been a certain win for me, but it would have increased my chances. As for them, they probably learned that Heloise with Enrage and Reverse Speed doesn't work very well. It's not that their team was bad. It certainly could have won. The problem is that it relies on RNG too much. I don't think I need all of the dodges that I got to win, but I certainly needed some of them, especially the first Spite on Deep Delver. Not losing Thragha right away also contributed to Mantaroth's survival. The first Spite had a 30% chance of missing, and it did; the second 30%, and it hit (this one wasn't very important); the third had 30%, and it missed (it was very important); the fourth had 20%, and it hit; the fifth had 40%, and it missed (but it was irrelevant); the sixth and final one had 30%, and it missed. Overall, I had better luck than my opponent, and I wouldn't need it if I had chosen better my Tactics.</div>
