These are the amazing things I learned from Bro. Eli Soriano's teaching on the above-mentioned topic in addition to my own personal research as well.

Luke 3:14 (KJV)
>And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

As a law enforcement agent, your duty is not to kill anyone or take anyone's life but to apprehend the criminal and deliver them to the justice system. Whatever the law wants to do with such a man is no longer your own doing. You have done your duty and the law would take its course too.

This is why it is important for law enforcement agencies to train their agents especially if they are to be handling guns. As a law enforcement agent, when you are good with handling the gun, you learn to disable the criminal without having to necessarily kill him. You can shoot such a person on the leg, feet, hands, arms or places they can quickly recover from. Understandably, there would be some exceptional cases where these might not be an option but this should be the first thing to do when handling or dealing with a criminal.

As an officer, you are just an apprehending officer so you are not to take lives. As earlier mentioned, some situations might warrant you to unintentionally take a life and that is okay especially when your own life is in danger as well. Like humans and other animals that God created, we have that inherent trait to defend ourselves. Imagine the snake, the lion, the crocodile and the likes. We all have the right to defend ourselves in the face of opposition but the main purpose should be to first apprehend the criminal and not take their lives.
