Did Crypto Jump the Shark

### I am not making the case that crypto has in fact jumped the shark, but if it turns out that it has, I predict the date given will be when Elon Musk went on Saturday Night Live. Seems like from that time, crypto has been softening steadily.

That is the best shark picture I could think of off the top of my head. From Bubba's Fish Shack at Surfside Beach in South Carolina.

### Jumping the shark is a common phrase to denote the zenith of something.  It does not mean the immediate destruction of whatever, rather more of a fading glory from the shark jump. Of course it comes from the moment that the Fonz jumped the shark in the popular TV show Happy Days. Happy Days continued on, but clearly the peak had been reached.

So what am I  saying? Well it is simply sad to see Hive slide. It was holding .50 for a while, then was beaten down to .40. Now barely holding north of 30...sad but par for the course considering the bloodbath in the cryptoshere. Am I asking for comforting words? Pleasant platitudes of it will all work out in the end kind thing? Nope. I know that no one knows, especially me. We can all have our views, but like Yoda said the future is hard to see.  All I know is I see so many powering down. Wonder if a shorter power down time would be beneficial?

It is sad to see so many powering down and people hanging on to their Hive and not powering up. 

I have no words for this. I want Hive to succeed and am willing to put in the work. I hope it surprises us - in a good way.

I share your desire. I want it to work as well. We both have put in too many hours not to feel sad when Hive slips. I am starting to think that the rewards for a newbie are just too small to keep their interest. I wonder now if we are doomed to be a niche site...

The rewards were tiny at best when I started. It was hard to get an upvote. I actually dont think it is worse, but, better. There are all sorts of places and different discords, along with tags to draw attention. There was none of that and I think it was a hard place to make out years ago. If you remember correctly, steemit was sort of a niche site, and it was hard to get even myself to join.

You know me, I don't know anything about anything, including crypto and Hive technically.

So.... I don't have an educated opinion, but I suppose if the shark was jumped, anyone that took something out while they could will feel they definitely made the right decision.

I'm still small and have never taken anything out and had daily claimed anything that was showing to be claimed to power up. Because of the extra long power down, there was no way to take a small benefit while the price was at it's peak. Since then I decided not to do that, so I'm letting current earnings sit.

I was born with an oversized empathizer, so I understand the folks that come here, need money desperately and take out every few dollars they can earn to survive for real, but it looks like that is the most of the newbies or from what I can see it is. There is no way to build like that I'm thinking, but that may be too shallow of a view.

When I started the price was about 87 cents, but the people that had been here during the boom were not even posting because THAT was so low. You know how long it sat barely more than 10 cents after. It takes time, a lot of life's precious minutes to take photos, download, create posts and comment and support others, so of course if there are only a few pennies to be made, I can understand why newbies get discouraged fast.

I could work OT on my job for about 1 month and bring home more that what my account is worth right now if it was all about the money. It has never been just about money to me and I've had some fun and met some nice people, but it certainly would have been nice to one day have been able to see a real penny in my hand from it.

Hopefully not a shark-jumping zenith thing, but more like a wave. Waves, roll in, crash on the shore, and then there are more. And of course if you have your surf board in the water at just the right time... okay too many analogies!

I have not seen that episode, but many people said that it is one of the worst SNL episodes. I also heard that Elon Musk tried to be funny in that episode, but he was not funny.

Users give value to things. The reason is in the behavior and approach of the users.

There could be many reasons for that. But let me ask you something, and answer honestly. If you put hours of work and effort into your posts for years, and those posts would constantly go unnoticed or ignored, then how would you feel?

You probly would not be happy about it.

Many people are disappointed and left/leaving the platform.

Nowadays I have more than 1200 followers, but most of them left the platform long months/years ago.

I would not put in hours on a single post. Remember this is social media, not a job. I think of it like Facebook with tips.

Look bottom line it is a game. Every successful player of any game needs a winning strategy. Here you are rewarded for two things mainly, interacting and your vote. Anyone and everyone can put up pics of their surroundings and food etc. Most people on here either put in money, although I never put in a penny. The other way is to grind. Post comment and power up, over and over again. You are doing good on the interaction. If I were you, I would power up and start getting noticed by voting and commenting. BTW many people see it as uncouth to comment and not vote at all. Just saying.
