Something I Should Do More Often

I really should go out a little more. I had an exhilarating time today visiting town. I wasn't sure if today's events were going to take place, but I thought, "What the heck? Let's do this!"

First off, a big shout out to my brother, @starstrings01. He turned xx years old today. He brought me on to Hive, was patient with me, and was faithful that I would come around some day to this space. Because of him, I am here today as a fully hived user. An abundant birthday blessing to my brother. Moving on....

I met someone on my way to a state far away from home, where I am now. We took the same bus, and, due to some altercations between the passengers and the driver, we started having conversations. And somehow, Hive came up in our conversation, and I was telling her about it.

"What if you found an alternative to X—somewhere your identity, content, and assets are solely controlled by you and not X—would you consider it?" I asked this new friend I had made, curious about her answer. "Yes, of course. Why not?" She responded. Stoked by this response, I began to talk about @inleo and its microblogging feature.

When I was done, she asked if I was actually the one who built Hive. I was taken aback by such a question, and then I asked why she thought so. Apparently, she thought that I was passionately talking about Hive, so much so that it sounded like it belonged to me. Thinking about it, doesn't Hive belong to me and to everyone who's invests their time, effort, and love in it? That's decentralisation we're talking about, after all.

With the few conversations we had afterwards, I would tell her that she was interested, especially when she asked for me to share links to InLeo and tell her about it later. I was surprised, but I wasn't going to hold on to that. The next day, after arriving at my destination, of course, she asked about it on her own accord. And that's how it all started.

She kept asking about it, and then we kept talking about it as well. Her son's first birthday is today, and I revealed to her prior that I planned to come around to celebrate with her and her son. I really liked the kid when I met him and wanted to see him again. And then she asked if we could talk about InLeo and Ecency when we meet in person.

It seemed like it was going to be a great day. I was going to travel into town, attend a party, and talk about Hive. I was pumped for it.

It's customary for us where I am from to not visit people empty-handed, especially on first visits, and so I stopped by at Dominoes and Cold Stone in hopes of getting something to take along with me.

"$7 for the smallest size." The guy at the counter said to me. I was confused. What I was looking at was really small. And from what I remember, it was only $2 about eight years ago. Also, a cup of ice cream was about $6. I couldn't afford them, and so I left. I returned and bought an even much smaller size that cost only $1.3 for one, and I bought two.

I met this new friend of mine, and she was with a friend of hers. They both were warm and welcoming, which was the right energy I needed. They also offered to help me take photos for me to keep. And then we proceeded to her office.

We then talked about Hive, as planned. I showed her around, enlightened her about Hive, and what she had to say when I was making a thread in front of her was, "I feel Hived already." I was glad to hear that.

We spent the rest of the day at hers. I met her people, and then the celebrant. The young man had forgotten my face so soon and was acting a little shy. He loosened up soon enough and did what kids his age do: mess up his birthday cake.

I am back home now, as I didn't plan to stay over, but I know for sure that this is something I should do more often. My birthday is on Saturday, and I feel as though I should just remain low-key as planned, but I am having new ideas to take care of myself for the day. Still, I've got no plans yet, other than to be grateful for another year. Until then, I'll keep on with my everyday things.

It's obvious that she wants to join Hive but might be in her consideration phase.

I wish could go out often but it's kind of stressful and anytime I eventually do it, I always promise myself to do it again but it doesn't happen until after a long time.

Wow, what an adventure ... It's always nice to talk about Hive to people, but when they don't show interest, it makes you not want to talk about it again. 
It seemed like you really convinced her about Hive, can't wait to see her here. 

You should go out more, please go out on your birthday and share nice photos with u hehehe...

I think I actually convinced her about Hive quite quickly. I think she was mostly open to learning about it, though.

Concerning going out more, I am actually taking it really seriously. Got to see the world more. It was actually PH I went to.

That was nice. It's hard to see someone who's 100% into Hive when you tell them about it. 


You should, because they're so many amazing things to see, and you'd never know who you'd meet .
