Tuż obok wulkanów na wysokości 4400m n.p.m. znajduje się przejście graniczne Hito Cajon przez które czwarty raz wjechaliśmy do Chile i tym razem udało mi się przemycić czosnek. Wjeżdżając do Chile nie można mieć ze sobą wielu rzeczy: narkotyków, broni, marchwi, pomarańczy, mleka czy cebuli. O ile bez broni i narkotyków da się podróżować, o tyle bez jedzenia jest to bardzo trudne, a opróżnianie całych zapasów przed wjazdem do Chile jest bardzo nieprzyjemne. "Jak to Agata dlaczego nie wolno wwozić owoców? to co mamy zrobić z tą pomarańczą?" Za każdym razem pojawiało się to samo pytanie i za każdym razem po prześwietleniu z naszych plecaków wylatywały z nich owoce i warzywa. Przejścia graniczne to jeden z powodów, dla których Chile, podobnie jak Boliwia trafiło na "czarną listę krajów Ameryki Południowej". Natomiast tuż po przekroczeniu granicy zaczęła się szaleńcza jazda w dół! Na odcinku 40 kilometrów nastąpiła zmiana wysokości z 4400 na 2400m n.p.m. i to wszystko w 20 min Bez żadnych serpentyn, tylko długa prosta stromo w dół. Uszy bolały podobnie jak podczas lądowania samolotu.
