It is a throwback Thursday and it reminds me of some experiences in the past. Some of these memories made me chuckle while  remembering some made me sulk. 

One of the memories I won't forget was when I went to serve my nation on a mandatory service for one year. It was some months after my wedding and I just had my first baby. The arrival of my baby was joyous and I look forward to treasure and love her. It is customary that if you are married, you will observe this one year mandatory service in the state where your husband resides and if you have a baby, you will be exempted from participating in the three-week camping activities before being posted to your place of primary assignment. The camping exercises are draining and stressful, yet must be observed except on the ground of having a new baby or ill-health. 

In my case, I had a baby so it was optional for me. I obtained the exit form which will permit me to stay at home for three weeks and only come when I need to do something important. The three weeks of camping activities can be stressful and at the same time fun. So, I decided to go to the camp ground once a week with my baby to have some fun with my fellow "Ontodos" as a serving corps member is called. 

One of the days in camp, we needed to submit an important document, so I went with my baby to submit mine. Because of the large numbers of people, the queue is usually long. I was fortunate I went with my baby as preferential treatments are given to nursing or pregnant mothers. Apparently, I got attended to on time since I didn't have to join the long queue. Guess what? Some other corps members came to collect  my baby and pretended to be the mother, so they could also jump the queue. Some were fortunate to be attended to because of the baby, while luck didn't shine on some because the officers attending to us soon discovered the baby was borrowed to disguise so as to jump the queue. One of the officers, said he was going to cease the baby.

We panicked but eventually after so much pleas, he gave the baby back to me. We laughed at the trick and how it failed some. 

This happened sometime in June, 2016 and the baby will be 8 years old by the 9th of April, 2024. 

It was indeed a funny experience and a beautiful memory to bring back.
