"Oh crap! They don't have any bananas!" 

>What are you talking about? You are standing right next too about 1000 bananas!"

"These are not *organic* bananas though! You know I only eat organic bananas. Oh! What am I going to do?!!" Judy began to stagger in circles. 

*Alarmed, Judy's friend said*

>Why don't you take a seat right here dearie?"

"Oh hell no! Bananas are often infested with deadly spiders! What if these bananas are deadly?!"

>Don't you think you are being a bit extreme dearie? I've never seen spiders on bananas."

"YOU NEVER KNOW! THAT'S THE THING! YOU NEVER KNOW!" 

*Judy stomped over to the lettuce and slumped to the floor.*

"My morning constitutional requires bananas to go smoothly. I *need* that fiber! Let's go." 

>Where? 

"To Wegman's of course! They usually have organic bananas."

>I'm sorry dearie. I don't shop in stores that begin with 'W'. 

"That's ridiculous! What is wrong with you?"

This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite [challenge](https://peakd.com/hive-161155/@mariannewest/day-1948-5-minute-freewrite-tuesday-prompt-banana-fiber).Today's prompt is ***banana fiber***. 

This five minute freewrite was inspired by my trip to the grocery store today, where I expected to buy one and only one thing - organic bananas. They had a mountain of inorganic bananas, no organic. I left the store with nothing.

I feel you -- there IS a difference between the two kinds. It's subtle to the taste, but it is there.

Now about those spiders -- you are onto something. The third verse of "The Banana Boat Song" made famous by Harry Belafonte hints at some darker history: "A beautiful bunch of ripe bananas/Daylight come and me want to go home/Hide the deadly black tarantula/Daylight come and me want to go home/Dayo, daaaaaaaaaaayo ..."

The difference between organic bananas and store-bought is, they are picked green for the stores to sell, and organic bananas, they might let get riper when they are picked. The longer you leave a banana stalk on the plant the sweeter the bananas will be. This is why all fruit and some vegetables do not taste as good as homegrown, organic only means they have not been sprayed with chemicals.

It doesn't even mean that. It means they weren't sprayed prophylactically, that the farms applied to spray because they had a problem. Organic is BS really, but perhaps slightly better than not, so since I do all I can to avoid toxins, I buy organic almost everything. I once even bought organic Doritos! It's a thing!
