Track Your Favourite Cryptocurrency with Coingecko

It is no more news that we are now in a digital world where we can store our asset in cryptocurrency, that is in a digital form either in coin/token. One of the characteristics that come with cryptocurrency is the fact that it is volatile in nature. What did I mean by this? It is liable to changes and the changes can be a positive change or negative change.

Since bitcoin was introduced back in 2009, thousands of altcoin has come into existence and it is very hard for cryptocurrency investors and traders to keep track of their favorite coin/token. Bobby CE Long and TM Lee dated back to 2014 came up with the idea of creating a site where people can get all the information they want about their favorite coin/token and the site name is Coingecko.

As the name implies, there is a myth about gecko( a small tropical lizard) about revealing information and relating it to coin means traders and investors can get any information they want on any coin/token to know how to go about their trading and the coin to buy and this is what coingecko help to bring in one page.

Coingecko provides information about more than 7000 cryptocurrencies ranging from their market cap, token supply, and amount in circulation which in turn helps investors to know where they should invest their money. The site also helps with a historical chart to help users know if a particular cryptocurrency is doing well against USD or another coin.

Coingecko is a platform that only helps traders and investors to keep track of their favorite coin and not a platform where coins can be exchanged for another coin or where crypto enthusiast can store their coin/token.

### My Experience With Coingecko

Let me briefly talk about my experience with Coingecko and how I get to know about the platform. As a newbie back who just find his way into the space of cryptocurrency, one of the problems I encountered earlier is how to convert my token to my local currency and how to avoid being cheated by vendors because then I don't know how to go about exchanging it against Bitcoin or other Altcoin which I can later convert to fiat.

I can still remember Vividly a friend I met online sent me the link to assess coingecko, I opened the link and searched for the token I want to sell. Immediately I clicked on the token, I was directed to a page where I was shown all the information I needed to know about the token and the total amount in circulation. After seen the total amount in circulation, I decided to hold the token and I am very happy I did because I later sold the token at a sweet rate compared to the rate I should have sold it.

Ever since then, I have always made use of Coingecko to track my favorite token to know the information I need to make the rightful decision. So we can also see Coingecko as a platform that helps crypto enthusiasts in decision making.

### Things Crypto Enthusiast Can Get on Coingecko

Just like I have said earlier, coingecko offers a wide range of information on more than 7000 cryptocurrencies and the following are some of the information Crypto Enthusiasts can get about their favorite coin.

##### Coin/Token Info

After the creation of bitcoin, lots of Altcoin have come into existence, the first thing any investor will always look for before investing his/her money on any token is to have a clue about the token like when it was created, the founder, how to go about getting the token and many more. Coingecko provides basic info on all the cryptocurrency that can be found on their database.

##### Token Wallet

Another thing to know about any token is the rightful wallet that can be used to store the token because sending a token to an unsupported wallet may lead to lost of the token. For instance, some tokens like Uptrennd 1up can only be stored on Erc20 wallet like Imtoken, Trust wallet, myetherscan, and sending token to a wallet outside of it will be at the sender risk. Coingecko aside from providing basic info also helps crypto enthusiasts to know the supported wallet for their token.

##### Exchange Site

Coingecko also helps crypto enthusiasts to know the rightful exchange site for them to trade their favorite token. One of the questions people always ask when it comes to cryptocurrency is if they can actually convert it to fiat. Crypto Enthusiasts can get the exchange sites where respective token can be traded for fiat through coingecko and a typical example is Uptrennd 1up token.

##### Explorer

Another vital information users can get on Coingecko is how to explore their favorite token, what did I mean here? By using the explorer of any token, you can get its smart contract address and also track all the transactions made. For instance, Uptrenndians can explore 1up token through etherscan.io or ethplorer.io.

### Conclusion
Just like I have said earlier, coingecko provides a wide range of information on more than 7000 cryptocurrencies to help crypto enthusiasts to take the right decision on their favorite coin/token. With coingecko, you don't have to worry about tracking bitcoin and other Altcoin.
