El paso del tiempo es la puerta a la historia, mucho se habla de que la Copa del Mundo en Qatar es el Mundial de Messi o -en menor medida- de Cristiano, pues la edad de ambos invita a pensar que este será su último tren para ganar la Copa, el rosarino y el de Madeira, genios donde los haya, han ido escribiendo sus nombres en letras doradas en los libros del fútbol, sin embargo la Copa más linda de todas se les ha resistido. Quizá pueda ser este su Mundial, quizá no lo sea porque el fútbol es caprichoso o, más bien, porque en el desierto Qatarí también hay un chico de 23 años -que ya tiene una Copa bajo el brazo- dispuesto a arrebatarles la gloria y quedarsela él para los suyos tal y como lo hizo en Rusia. 

Hemos hablado ya, del tiempo y de la historia, Kylian ha comenzado a construir la suya a una edad muy temprana, con 23 años posee los galones para ser él quien decida el rumbo de un partido que se puede complicar en el más grande de los escenarios en el planeta fútbol. Hoy, Polonia se acordó de jugar al fútbol, algo que no hizo en toda la fase de grupos; en Al Thumama, Czesław Michniewicz tuvo presente que tiene figuras de ataque entre las piezas que conforman su plantilla y con ellas buscó ofender a la campeona reinante al punto de complicarle la vida en la primera mitad, Polonia se vio bien e hizo sufrir a Francia en la primera mitad, pero terminaron por sucumbir al fútbol que genera una bestia única en su especie como lo es Mbappé. 

Por seguir hilando con el tiempo y la historia, ha sido el parisino quien mostró la puerta del gloria a Olivier Giroud; al 44’, Mbappé encontró el resquicio adecuado para asistir al centro delantero del AC Milán para que abriese la lata de un partido que comenzaba a tornarse aciago para las aspiraciones francesas, una generalidad de Mbappé para que Giroud con la finura característica de su fútbol se apuntalase como el máximo goleador en la historia de la selección gala con 52 tantos -superando los 51 de Thierry Henrry-, con el paso de los años, todo apunta a que el asistente del presente récord será quien termine poseyéndolo. El fútbol y el ritmo de Kylian dan para romperlo todo.

Con el 1-0 al descanso, no hubo más espacio para sufrimiento en el cuadro francés, la cuota de martirio estaba cubierta con las ocasiones de Lewandowski y de Cash en la primera mitad antes de esa genial combinación entre el 10 y el 9 de Deschamps. Si a Francia, que es avasalladora y te machaca cuando le place, le perdonas, si le das una segunda chance, te aniquila sin piedad, sin miramiento alguno. Y así lo habría de hacer Mbappé que siguió con su exhibición personal en favor del colectivo. 

Al Minuto 74’, el conjunto de Deschamps armó un contragolpe tan lúcido como fue letal, un pelotazo de Griezmann en faceta defensiva, Giroud acarició esa burda pelota y la hizo de oro con un toque de Midas, tras el acarreo buscó a Dembélé por derecha y Ousmane tenía claro que había espacio para Mbappé en la reconversión polaca, jugó para el 10 que sin miramiento alguno hundió la pelota en el arco de Polonia con un misil expulsado de su pierna derecha. 2-0 y habría más de Mbappé. 

Si en el segundo gol de Francia la definición de Kylian fue brillante, en el tercero no encuentra adjetivo, Mbappé con la misma o mayor potencia la colgó esta vez del ángulo superior del palo largo, haciendo infructuosa la estirada de Szczęsny que solo sirvió para adornar más la postal. Y en el último suspiro del encuentro Lewandowski supo ampliar su cuota goleadora Mundialista a dos tantos con un penalti que falló en primera instancia pero hubo de ser repetido y un genio como Robert no falla dos veces. 3-1 lo ganó Francia que se reafirma -con todo y su larga lista de consabidas ausencias- como una fortísima candidata al título. ¿Será este otro Mundial de Kylian? El tiempo habrá de abrirnos la puerta a la historia.

And in the last breath of the game Lewandowski was able to extend his World Cup scoring quota to two goals with a penalty that he missed in the first instance but had to be retaken and a genius like Robert does not miss twice. France won 3-1, reaffirming themselves -despite their long list of absentees- as a strong candidate for the title. Will this be another World Cup for Kylian? Time will open the door to history.*

## CON LA ONZA DE CALIDAD ABSOLUTA

Si alguien que no hubiese visto el desarrollo de las acciones en el Al Bayt Stadium se limitara a observar el marcador final, podría perfectamente pensar que Inglaterra se paseó con tranquilidad absoluta ante Senegal, pero no ha sido así. Los Tres Leones de Southgate terminaron con una ventaja demasiado cómoda en el luminoso para lo mal que lo pasaron en el desarrollo inicial del partido. Senegal les llegó a poner contra las cuerdas y aguantaron con estoicismo, después, con puño de hierro -al más puro estilo de Margaret Thatcher- castigaron la fragilidad defensiva de su rival. 

El peso específico de un equipo es ese factor que puede decantar un encuentro complejo a favor de quien lo posee; Inglaterra ante los Leones de Teranga que con menos posesión de pelota fueron capaces de encontrar las mejores ocasiones tras 20 minutos de poco fútbol y nulas canches en los arcos. La primera la tuvo Boulaye Dia tras un rebote concedido por Stones pero la echó por encima y justo a la media hora de encuentro Pickford erigió su figura salvadora para detener un nuevo intento de Dia tras el pase de Ndiaye. Se estaba salvando Inglaterra que hasta ese momento tenía 70% de posesión y dos enormes sustos en el cuerpo. 

No aparecían Bellingham, Saka o Foden para hacer ese fútbol que se les presupone por la calidad que rebosa en sus nombres, Inglaterra se veía nerviosa, imprecisa, sumamente preocupada por no encontrar los caminos para ofender y sacudirse los miedos que Senegal le había metido en el cuerpo; y el tener la onza de calidad en las filas de tu equipo te facilita la vida cuando el panorama se oscurece, a Inglaterra se le venía la noche y de repente aparecieron los que saben, se hizo la luz. 

> *If anyone who had not seen the action at the Al Bayt Stadium were to look at the final scoreline, they might well have thought that England had an easy ride against Senegal, but that was not the case. Southgate's Three Lions finished with too comfortable a lead for how badly they struggled in the early stages of the game. Harry Kane, que se ha desmarcado del rol de goleador de área para ser determinante en la generación de ataque de su equipo, se apoyó en Foden para después lanzar a Bellingham en el espacio abierto, Jude “tomó una canción triste y la hizo mejor”, no lo pasaba bien el equipo de Southgathe y construyeron una linda jugada para que Bellingham se convirtiese en el asistidor más joven en la historia Mundialista de los Tres Leones con un gran pase a Henderson que simplemente definió con sutileza y calidad sobrada. 1-0 lo ganaba Inglaterra con su primer remate al arco de Edouard Mendy.

Tras el primer gol, Inglaterra pasó de 37’ minutos de oscuros pasajes a la iluminación absoluta; nuevamente una brillante jugada colectiva aprovechando los espacios, toqueteo absoluto entre Bellingham Foden y Kane para que el capitán, ahora sí, haciendo gala de su jerarquía en la definición, soltó un escopetazo letal que horadó la valla de Mendy por segunda ocasión en el partido. Inglaterra aclaró su panorama en cuanto encontró las conexiones adecuadas entre los nombres correctos. 

En la reanudación tras el descanso, Inglaterra impuso un fútbol control impecable, ya con la calma que le brindaba el marcador sus largas y cadenciosas posesiones de pelota hacían  todo el sentido del mundo ante una Senegal que se fue al descanso desencajada puesto que habían impuesto grandes rafagas de presión sobre los ingleses, les habían incomodado y supieron generarse sus ocasiones pero no encontraron la contundencia del cuadro britanico que les mató en una rafaga de futbol. Al 57’ llegó la segunda asistencia de Foden en el partido, ya había habilitado a Kane en el segundo, hizo lo propio con Saka para el tercero que liquidaba el encuentro y con ello las ilusiones de los Leones de Teranga.


> *Harry Kane, who has moved out of the area striker role to be a key player in his team's attacking endeavours, was supported by Foden and then released Bellingham into open space, Jude "took a sad song and made it better", Southgate's team were not having a good time and they built up a nice move for Bellingham to become the youngest assist man in the Three Lions' World Cup history with a great pass to Henderson who simply finished with subtlety and quality to spare. It was 1-0 to England with Edouard Mendy's first shot on goal.*

> *After the first goal, England went from 37 minutes of dark passages to absolute illumination; again a brilliant collective play taking advantage of the spaces, absolute touching between Bellingham Foden and Kane so that the captain, now, showing his hierarchy in the definition, released a lethal shot that pierced Mendy's goal for the second time in the match. England's vision became clearer as soon as they found the right connections between the right names.* 

> *On the restart after the break, England imposed impeccable football control, and with the calmness that the scoreboard gave them, their long and rhythmic ball possession made all the sense in the world against a Senegal that went to the break disjointed since they had imposed great bursts of pressure on the English, they had made them uncomfortable and knew how to generate their chances but did not find the forcefulness of the British team that killed them in a burst of football. At 57' came Foden's second assist of the match, he had already set up Kane for the second, he did the same with Saka for the third and with it the hopes of the Lions of Teranga.*
